Playing Demons Souls has allowed me to be able to progress on Megaman 1, so they better not dumb it down too much or I will suck at contra now.

I am okay with all of this. Wanting players be more aggressive, From Software created a more agility focused combat system to put players on the offense. Shields and heavy armor are almost non-existent, so opting for a turtle fighting style is not really an option. When locking-on to an enemy, your dodge roll will turn into a dash maneuver, allowing you weave in and out of the fray with ease. If an enemy is about to attack, and you time dash right, your character will evade directly to the side or even behind the opponent, leaving him open to devastating damage.
Moreover, firearms can stun enemies and open up their defenses. Called the Counter-shot, when you shoot an enemy about to attack, you'll stun them and leave open to a devastating counter-attack. Think of this as Bloodborne's take on the parry, but it's way more brutal and satisfying to pull off.
When you take a hit, you lose a portion of your health bar. You have a limited time afterwards to regain that health back. Within that limited time, if you get your hit in on the enemy, you get your health back. Source: http://www.destructoid.com/bloodborne-is-bleak-and-unforgiving-279524.phtml

While he couldn’t expand on it, Yamagiwa said that Bloodborne’s “new online concept and experience… will capture a wider audience." My takeaway is: Players won't be invaded without somehow opting into being invaded. Or battles will take place in matchmade arenas, possibly. I'm not particularly opposed to that as long as the combat is interesting.

you can already opt out of being invaded in dark souls 1 by staying hollow or living in europe

Yeah, but then you couldn't do co-op (well, host co-op). Some people are vehemently opposed to the mere concept of PvP and just want to summon their ghostly apparitions and praise the shit out of that sun without any non-artificial intelligence getting in their way. I'm not one of those people, but I've gotten enough hatemail to understand the feeling (my favorite is the 'this is MY world' line of reasoning). It sounds like it will be a less exclusive situation now, or that's what I thought when I first read it anyway.

i hope the blood vial system is some kind of estus thing or at least not a return to demons souls grass grinding

i got back to working on my first playthrough on ds1 after a long hiatus and i finally solo'd giant ornstein. i dont consider myself to be very good at souls games so this was a monumental moment for me. after having this awesome narrative of overcoming my epic struggle, this game has cemented itself as one of the all time greats in my view i was so pumped when "you defeated" appeared roll baby roll

same
also talking enemies will probably get really annoying, esp when the inevitable memes start popping up. i also hope theres an option to turn the grape juice blood off because holy piss. it certainly looks a lot cornier than any souls game.
also also also, it's probably too early to judge yet, but im getting some of the same awkwardness from the level design i got from bioshock infinite, where it's supposed to be a big open city but feels artificially constrained. but ofc levels like undead burg, anor londo and (to a lesser extent) boletaria palace were the same and worked great atmosphere-wise. so we'll see.
gameplay-wise it looks good tho

welp the player picks them up from a corpse so they're probably not going to be the same thing. btw its dum how they claim its a "full playthrough" and then edit out a whole bunch of shit

Setting is dope. I like how tall and fucked up the enemies are. The screaming is really unsettling.
Not enough blood idk.
