A quick yes/no question for folks who have been past the Untended Graves: does wishing for a world without fire or kneeling at the bonfire end the game? I have stuff I still want to do, so I just want to know if it is a point of no return.

No, after any ending you will have a deliberate choice to begin NG+, and if you turn it down you will be able to initiate it any time after. It's pretty cool!

Hah that giant staircase is neat.
I'm really liking there are 3 bosses I can fight at this point.
Deacons Wolly the floating Skull Old Demon King
Cool to have options, this game is branching a little more than I expected.

oooooh i just met yorshka for the first time. i can definitely see the irithyll/painted world connection now. yorshka is just an extremely interesting character in general. so many lore implications. i wonder if she's speaking figuratively or literally when she refers to gwyn as "father". also she definitely seems *not quite human* and possibly related to priscilla somehow. this is all very intriguing.

"not quite human" what gave it away. was it her tail?

Just beat DS3 in 38 hours. That's way quicker than it took me to beat any of the other souls games. A little surprising.

(seriously, I needed a chalice and an awesome self-beheading statue in order to access a ladder? My reaction, in sequence: a) I'm not impressed by anything that can be overcome by standing on a chair, and b) "Welcome to Lothric Castle, Ambassador, if you'll just follow me up the royal ladder...")
I think that's meant to be a back/side entrance to Lothric Castle. Also also: Something something is very clearly wrong with the geology of Lothric. Standing at the Anor Londo cathedral and looking out, everything in DS1 should be down and to the left. But instead of the barrier wall separating Anor Londo from Lordran, there's a massive hole and an expanse of water, with a large anomalous landmass topped by Lothric Castle up and to the right. It seems to me like there may have been a pretty catastrophic explosion to move that amount of stone, possibly when the Kiln was last lit? I had my suspicions that it had something to do with the Profaned Flame, but that's supposed to have come from the sky, and only melted human flesh...
There's a few hints throughout the game that parts of the world as it currently is just suddenly appeared. There's also theories that the painted world of Ariamis leaked out and merged with Anor Londo creating Irithyll. Why would that be the case when its clearly just that the artificial sun no longer exists, and Anor Londor/Irithyll is in a perpetual state of night? Hence the cold.

It's okay, you only did it for like two posts anyways. Not like I care about spoilers for this, so everything is cool.

Aural Decoy combined with Spook in PvE scenarios is fucking amazing, especially for cliff-kicking (even better than the Alluring Skulls). Also, if you use Aldrich's Sapphire with Aural Decoy and Spook to get easy critical hits you end up getting half the FP back (thanks to Aldrich's Sapphire which gives 15 FP each time you critical). Add in Aldrich's Ruby (+85 HP on critical) and the Hornet Ring (+30% critical damage) and you've got some nasty hit-and-run vampire tactics.
I am currently using the Arstor's Spear with the Evil Eye ring so I get +60 HP per kill (30 from Arstor's Spear and 30 from the Evil Eye ring) and the poison (from Arstor's Spear) and the aforementioned critical boosts help that along nicely.
I am going at this game full ninja assassin style, I get enough criticals that I am really not having to rely on my flasks all that much any more.

Btw, how much HP do blessed weapons regenerate? I wonder if you can do anything like a faith build in Demon's Souls where you could stack a bunch of regen effects to basically give yourself infinite HP. Blessed weapon + adjudicator's shield + regen ring basically made the poison in the swamp irrelevant.

I am not sure, but on that note there is actually a lot of cool gear to make a "Holy Warrior" type character this time around, which is the next build I think I will go for.

I've been murdering the hell out of people in the archives, you can use the book staircases and chameleon to set up some sneaky plunge attacks, really helps when the host summons in two phantoms thinking to just gangbang on you.
the dark alternate universe firelink shrine was freaking cool too, i like how there's obviously some sort of dimensional crossover stuff going on and you're kinda seeing the effects of both linking the fire and becoming the dark lord in the two realities, and that there's clear areas where a whole zone was pulled in ontop of another. In my second playthrough i also realized that basicly every boss in the game is super weak to miracles and frost, and that i didn't realize at first lightning weapons actually have faith scaling now making them super strong on faith builds (though not as strong as a normal + dmb, but doesn't require mid combat casting)

woah, wolnir becomes a lot less annoying if you go for his right arm first. i just downed him before he could even summon any skeletons.
btw the name wolnir reminds me of wollny, which is the name of a family of german reality tv "stars"
i found the same. i died a bunch of times going for his left first, but when i switched to going for his right first i cleared him without any trouble. also, i haven't gone back and read the whole dks3 section of the thread but has there been a consensus on the corvians being descendants of the velka crow harpies from the painted world? i think the corvians are pretty interesting characters and together with yorshka/irithyll make the painted world bleeding out theory seem pretty likely. what about the theory that aldrich ate nito and priscilla? who the hell is aldrich anyway? originally i thought it was just a new name for gwyndolin, but the lore makes it clear aldrich was a being or force that devoured gwyndolin. i wonder if aldrich may have come out of the painted world as well given that he has clearly eaten priscilla.
