Ye Epic Gaming Bestiary

It's no secret: I love monsters.  I really dig bestiaries, especially game ones.  I dunno, seeing a big index full of monsters (with pictures, natch) gets me wet, 'cause I'm a nerd. Kiss

So yeah, here we collect and discuss all things monsters.

Castlevania

http://castlevania.classicgaming.gamespy.com/history/monstermyth.html - for all you castlevania fans out there.  They also have a great list on weapons featured throughout the games. (Contributor: Outer God)

Chrono Trigger

http://www.eyesonff.com/ct/ctbesta.php (Contributor: fartron)

Doom

http://www.doomwadstation.com/bestiary/comparison/ (Contributor: Alevice)

Dragon Warrior

http://www.woodus.com/den/resources/bestiary.php - All the Dragon Warrior enemies, with lots of display options!  Gotta love Akira Toriyama.

Elder Scrolls

http://til.gamingsource.net/bestiaries/bestiarydaggerfall.shtml (Contributor: toastie)

Final Fantasy

http://www.ffcompendium.com/h/monster.shtml - this is a great collection of all the recurring creatures in the Final Fantasy series, with comparisons from all the different games.  I love it.

And for Final Fantasy 1 only, you can't beat FFClassic.

Mana Series (Seiken Densetsu)

http://www.seikens.com/bestiary.html - this site just rocks.  It's beautiful!

Warcraft

might not be game specific, but they've got some pretty interesting articles related to monsters based on myth and folklore.  check out their other sections too, they're a good read.

Blogleech's site has a considerable wealth of monsters from a variety of games, popular and obscure alike.  I especially liked his section on El Viento (a personal favorite), where he points out which monsters were discreetly borrowed from H.P. Lovecroft.

Edit, it was really awesome of me to not include a link xD

I hate when people mess up sprites with shitty pixel re-scaling. I made some proper ones. Adventure gets my love for its attempt at persistence, emergence and free roaming.

A wc3/wow bestiary: http://www.wowwiki.com/Bestiary

Too bad it does not include the old best from wc1/wc2 lore.

Resident Evil: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Resident_Evil_creatures (yeah, I couldn't find anything non wikipedia for them). You could check each game's monster section here as well: http://residentevil.planets.gamespy.com/index.shtml

Doom: http://www.doomwadstation.com/bestiary/comparison/
