He smashes through all the nitpicking just like he does for every other game he's reviewed (uh, with the possible exception of Portal). However, his overall opinion seems to be positive, and the review's still gut-bustingly funny :D

He had some of the same problems I suffered from: repetitive level design, and overly pretentious storyline. He gave the gameplay a general thumbs up, though, and he enjoyed the satisfaction from actually learning how to use your powers to finish levels.

In this age of heat-and-serve, frozen, chocolate pancake-wrapped sausages, pretentious is a complement.

Speaking as a pretentious person, I concur.  Gentleman

I vaguely knew Yahtzee before he became all internet famous. He was a regular on the home of the underdogs forum. I bet he is getting all the wenches now with his new found interweb stardom. His Zero Punctuation reviews are hillarious, though I often have to disagree with some of the points he makes.

What I like about Yahtzee is that despite the fact that I sometimes disagree with his points he's aware that his reviews are subjective and his own personal opinion and doesn't try to make them come off as, like, an ultimate word on if you should or shouldn't buy a game. The level at which he doesn't take anything he talks about seriously enhances that and makes his reviews much more entertaining and informative than 90% of the others around the intertubes.

That and he seems like a very inteligent fella, and an indie game dev himself. Gentleman

If you don't know, you don't deserve it be.

I know and I just don't want to spend the $10 on something I couldn't keep on top of without dropping everthing else in my life.

Yo

Braid was given 5/5 in our local morning paper, Sydsvenskan (about 150k readers I think). The reviewer called it "the best game since Space Invaders, released 1978".

this mean that he thinks that space invaders is the best game of all the time isn't it?

i agree with the 5/5 anyway

Speaking about Swedish newspapers: The biggest of the "serious" morning papers, DN, gave Braid 5/5 and the third biggest, SVD, gave it 6/6. I guess I'll have to get the darn game when it reaches PC.
