For the Wii U, OUYA, PC, Mac and, potentially, Mobile

GAMEPLAY VIDEO:

My name is Andrew Augustin. I am creating a game called 'Super Ubi Land' under my indie game company, Notion Games LLC.

Super Ubi Land is inspired by all of the great games I played as a child. Games like Super Mario World, The Legend of Zelda and Donkey Kong Country.

I am the artist and the programmer for this project and Calum Bowen is handling the soundtrack. The game isn't complete and still has a long way to go.

Super Ubi Land is powered by Scirra's Construct 2 engine.

Hope you guys like what I have so far. I will continue to update this thread with new information about the game.

The game art is very nice. Gameplay and animation look smooth also.

Looks like a full working game so far

Loving the happy face on the character also :D

Keep up the good work

I'm here to show some of the music i've been working on for this game (all WIPs right now):

Main Theme:
http://soundcloud.com/calumbowen/super-ubi-land-main-theme

Level Theme:
http://soundcloud.com/calumbowen/super-ubi-land-world-1-2-loop

Shop Theme:
http://soundcloud.com/calumbowen/super-ubi-land-shop-theme

The style i'm going for is very Koji Kondo/Animal Crossing - lots of fun, slight jazz and a mix between chiptune and orchestral instruments.

The music is good. Spirited, happy, and bright. Fits the game perfectly

Nice work Calum

been up all night... working hard on Super Ubi Land. Many many more nights to go but til then, check out this new update. Still playing around with the same stage but I've added a couple of new mechanics and fixed a bunch of things (and added some subtle yet satisfying eye candy like point icons whenever you grab an item or destroy an enemy). Hope you enjoy

I created a basic demo of the game and uploaded it to Scirra Arcade. The game has a lot of work needed to be done (both graphically and level design wise) and I also had to strip a lot of things in order to get it under the 10mb file size limit (or else I couldn't upload to Scirra Arcade) Sad

BUT check it out, let me know what you think. Smiley
Thanks for the support!

Super Ubi Land Demo version 0.2
http://www.scirra.com/arcade/games/addicting-action-games/1487/super-ubi-land

-The final game is planned to have 5 worlds (1 being a secret world), over 28 levels, 5 bosses, and more. I am even including secret codes that you enter during the intro screen to give you 99 lives, 1000 coins, and more (see if you can figure them out).

enough rambling, I hope you enjoy the little demo  Beer!

Some pixel fan art with Ubi and Pastel de Limon!

Thinking about getting some of these made just for the heck of it

Here's a level/stage select world map type of thing that I'm working on. I want to do something similar to super mario world's world map but I need to push away from influences from that game. I'm thinking with this layout for each world, the player can see what hasn't been unlocked yet and won't have to navigate such a big map to get to a certain level they'd like to play. But maybe I will change it. For now I'm going to keep it as is and focus on other parts of the game.

*We've replaced every placeholder sound from other games except for the 'glliiing!' noise from super mario world. That'll be replaced once Calum creates a sound for it.

We have backed the OUYA kickstarter and got the developer special so we are now building Super Ubi Land to take advantage of the OUYAs specs!

And here are some new screenshots from an early build of World 1 Level 6!

What tool/language are you using, that you have such nice cross-compatibility?

I thought this was Ubi Softs casual game collection for Ouya, which is far less exciting than your project.

It looks very cutesy based off the trailer, which I totally dug. The art and music seem to go together pretty well.

I didn't know that Ubi Soft had a casual game collection coming out for OUYA. Is there an actual list of games confirmed for the Ouya?

And thanks for checking out my thread  Coffee

Have some pretty big changes to the game over the past month or so:

For one, I put together some cover art (to use for now)

Here's the process for those who care about that sort of thing:

Here are some new gameplay updates, Some are newer than others:

Also here are some new screens:

Which one do you think is better? Grass or Sand?

Also we have Super Ubi Land on Steam Greenlight:

Here's the link to help us get on Steam!

I am hard at work on this game doing everything from the art all the way to the programming and Calum Bowen is working hard on the SFX and music! We hope that you guys will enjoy this game once it is complete!

Thanks for all of the support!

This looks really nice, congratulations.

I have a question: how are you going to deploy it to mobile, pc mac and ouya? I've read that you're using Construct 2 (so HTML5).

Thanks,

Gian
