Hey everyone, I'm pretty new to the forums, so I thought I should introduce myself first. My name is James Biddulph and I recently started a games company in Birmingham(UK). My first release is robotic puzzler Amp, Watts & Circuit (http://www.desura.com/games/amp-watts-circuit), which is also coming soon to iOS and Android.

Anyway, I wrote an article called marketing quest, its about starting off in marketing indie games. Hopefully there will be information there that is useful or interesting for you, but either way Id love to know what you think!

Here is the link - http://blog.jamogames.com/2012/07/marketing-quest-part-1.html

Cheers!

EDIT

Part 2 is now out, get it here - http://blog.jamogames.com/2012/08/marketing-quest-part-2.html

Yeah, sticking to those regular updates is the one I struggle with the most, especially when you've had an off day or have been doing something with no obvious visual results such as engine optimisation

Ah, that's great advice. I've been trying to do a similar thing with trying to promote my company and games. So far I've had mixed results but I'm going to keep at it.

So far the best thing for us has been attending events around Australia to create awareness. Soon I want to be able to head to events like PAX to start building up our fanbase in the US too.

If you're interested you can have a look at my blog where I document my experiences and attempt to measure the results: http://www.convictinteractive.com/?page_id=421

(Also, this is first post, so hi TIG!)

I'm glad people are enjoying it. I agree with you James, sticking with it is a struggle, but hopefully it will pay off. Just think of how worth doing it will have been if you can make a living by making your own games!

Hi everyone, Marketing Quest part 2 is now out! I reflect on what happened over the last month, and what we can learn from that, along with some new goals for this month.

Give it a read here - http://blog.jamogames.com/2012/08/marketing-quest-part-2.html

Thanks!
