That looks gorgeous. I wouldn't have guessed that you did all that in a weekend. As far 2D video-game art goes this game is very high on my list.

I'm receiving more ratings than player characters (in my game, the player's character is immediately uploaded to the server before even being named, and there's no way to play without connecting to the server), and apparently I'm getting off lightly with a 1:2 play:rate ratio; someone else apparently had only 2 pageviews, yet 15 ratings. A portion of those might not be counted due to technical stuff, but it can't be 86% of the count being hidden.

Yeah...it kind of sucks when you work hard for two days straight only to have people rate your game based on your screenshots and description.

Are you in IRC asking people for feedback? Did you make blog posts and tweet about it?

Just dumping it on the site isn't going to help people feel interested, no matter how interesting it is to you, sadly.

Getting involved with the community is the only surefire way to get people to play your game and give you useful feedback. Rates are also mostly worth ignoring unless you're scoring absolutely fantastically since quite a few people game the rates system to get their coolness up (the bastards).

Reminded me of how I'd often get a mix of different medium scores on audio on my previous ludum dare entries...

...Which had no audio at all.

Meanwhile: The evolution of a monster.

A super short physics based adventure game that I'll probably give a post competition treatment to make less buggy and include more content.

Finished my entry, now sleepies time.

I know a lot of people have praised this but HOT DAMN.

Dat visual appeal. I always like your fast games man, I'd consider doing more like this and making a compilation than spending ages on that under-the-garden++ ocean game, as harsh as that might seem. You always make really good use of limited time and resources. A++ would play again.

Thanks bro, I think...  I actually would make more games if there was more competitions - maybe I am not looking hard enough, anyway I decided I will probably include a more polished / overhauled version of Soul Jar with the Rambros alpha, as there is A LOT of stuff I had to cut to make the time, good controls and additional AI and the sequence with the robot alone was the major things... Oh well.  If I can fit another competition in before I release RamBros alpha maybe I can do a "Paul's hobo bundle" of games  Cheesy

Host them yourself Wink Paul's hobo bundle sounds good. I'd honestly pay money for that kinda stuff, and I think more people would. It's something Michal and I are looking to try next year, just making a lot of games and not worrying too much about making a shitload of content for each one, just making sure it's fun and brings something new to the table.

beware... it's an rpg maker game...
It is not the tools used, but rather the game produced, that defines the developer. I mostly like the colours used there, a bit insane in parts but w/e. Will try when I'm next on an LD spree

Terra Tam: The World Warrior. The main idea for this was "the final products of various planets' evolutionary processes fighting each other." Yes, I'm aware that evolution being linear and having a "final product" is a very silly idea, and that may have contributed to the silly nature of the game itself.

Thanks dude!  I definitely learned a few tricks, established a better workflow with my tools over the weekend.

Now there's only one level, but we'll be adding more real soon.  I wish I could show you the editor, it's pretty snazzy.

Hi everyone,

This was my first LD, had lots of fun but also worked like crazy  Durr...?

I will definitely check out the games in this thread and I'd love it if you'd check out my game:

A game about evolving a mysterious facetted "thing". Change his colors and behaviors by bringing the brightly colored meteors that fall from the sky to the altars. Surely it is susceptible to such generosity.

It's up to you to bend this "thing" to your will with the power of evolution!

Really enjoying checking out everyone's entries. This was my first LD and I was the programmer for Beast Feast. Programming is not my strong suit, but I had a lot of fun with it. Worked together with UP_Kevin and green. Hope you will check it out. http://www.ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-24/?action=preview&uid=7580.

Ended up making a some sort of "Tower of the Sorcerer" clone. One bad design decision led to some trial and error game play, but the save system makes it a bit less agitating. Still, after only 22 hours of development I'm pretty happy with the end result.

So here is Richard Dawkins' Magnificent Microcosm of Mechanically Mutational Evolution!

As for me I managed to create a first-person platformer game. Haha.

Here's a video teaser of the game:

You can try out the game here.

Also, post more of your works so I can start rating them! :D

This was my first Ludum Dare. I really enjoyed making a game in two days. I hope I have the time to enter the next LD as well. I will play and rate games posted here.

My game is about having kids who will avenge their fallen dads, because he will die fighting. Here is the link to my entry, I really would like to have some feedback from you:
