you need an impact keyframe for when his leg is at its front-most extreme, otherwise it will always look like he's just kicking - you should ""obtain"" a copy of The Animator's Survival Kit, it's chocked full of dem protips

Yeah, we ended up taking surfing out for the moment. Might still be a neat little thing we add later on, but in the meantime we just made Throwman invulnerable to falling impact damage.

 It's pretty much 100% out, it doesn't mesh well with everything else in the game, although it was kinda fun / funny. When falling damage was in the game, it made it to easy to avoid, so even if falling damage is re-added, the surfing thing probably won't be. Plus, everyone was confused by it, and I had to explain it 2-3 times every time I showed someone the game.

I think you should tone down background contrast a little, it got to much attention compared to characters, not to mention its red, which quicly draws attention to it.

Body-surfing could still be a fun core mechanic to play around with, not just for negating fall damage, but on a number of other levels, like building forward momentum, avoiding damage from hazardous floors (or roofs while crouching!), and being a method of air-jumping after riding off an edge. Especially if you can grab one body/object while surfing on another.

That can also set this game up for fun, Fishbane-like puzzles with different handling, which I think we can all agree, are infinitely better than crate box puzzles.
