This didn't work for me during the compo but I've finally got around to downloading it...I love it! Can't wait for version 2.

Holy Crap! These are amazing.
I AM working on a second iteration of the game (sound + gameplay refinements + tutorial for people who can't play it + real ending). I'll be including all of these colossi, be sure to e-mail me jimmcginley-at-rogers.com with your credit information (name of monster, name of person that created it, e-mail). Thanks so much for all the hard work.
I'm currently unsure how many machines can handle these extra large monsters. I've been keeping the monsters to 400 x 400. For speed reasons, the code needs to pre-allocate the entire large monster ahead of time in VideoRAM. The larger the monster, the more video cards that are ruled out and the less people that can play the game. I'll try optimizing the code to ensure the large monsters are supported.

I've found that MtPaint is very good for HMCGD monster creation.

The big monsters worked for me no pro, but I use the 800*600 version. I have GeForce2MX tho . Based on this, I guess if anyone can play the normally-sized version, those big monster should work for him as well. But I'm not betting on it . They were tricky, but defeatable. Not as nearly difficult as Languid - he makes me mad almost every time. And if I may suggest something - would be nice for every monster to have some intro animation, like in Shadow of the Colossus. I dunno, some zoom-out maybe. 'cause you can't really apprieciate the design of some of 'em (especially these giant ones) unless you look at them at smaller scale. I wouldn't even know how Seletas looks like if it wasn't for the thumbnail. While fighting them the player feels incredibly tiny, but you don't really see them at all.

I was wondering: Could you post a picture that has all of the colors that can be used in the monsters? I'm trying to get a palette going, so that I can make better stuff.

I will post a picture with all the colors this Friday (little tied up before then). Worth noting the game can handle "fuzzy" colours rather than absolutes. i.e. any shade of green will work, rather than perfect matching green
However, could you please wait before creating more monsters. I've been improving the game and I've darkened the monsters slightly so the white sigils will stand out a little better (large complaint by players, and youtube videos don't show sigils).
On Friday, I'll post a link to the "debug" version of the latest build, which will allow you to fly around (in addition to regular movement), so you can test your monsters better. Plus, you can pick your monster without having to mess with the text file. Stay tuned.
Izydor > You are totally right about not being able to appreciate the designs (when they're huge). Currently I can't scale the monsters in & out - it's too slow. I'll keep trying, but currently it's up the monster creators to keep things somewhat smaller to solve this.
Thanks!

I've just confirmed that on a 800x600 resolution, running IceWM, using Linux from a USB drive, HMCGD does NOT work through Wine. Sorry guys.

Thanks for trying A reliable source told me that Restraining Order works under Linux Wine (I have no other information unfortunately). It uses exactly the same technology as HMCGD which means there is a chance HMCGD would work. I'll confirm whether 800x600 is an issue - it shouldn't be. Thoughts: 1. Do you have the VB6 DLLs installed under Wine (unsure if you get them automatically). 2. Try copying HMCGD to your hard drive and running it there. 3. Try running "Restraining Order" and see if that works. It will help narrow things down. Thanks for everyone's patience while I finish this baby. I'm working on making more time, which means less full time working

I also didn't get GZDoom (a popular DooM port, great for Chex Quest as well;)) running, so I probably just need more graphics libraries.
