Boo! Surprise last minute entry! Here's a video of it in action! The game now includes a level editor, as well as eight new levels and two new game elements!

A 2d->1d version of Crush? :D
Edit: Very nice. The puzzles were clever. I was stumped on the first red marbles of the first world until I realized it was just a tricky jump, and the rectangular collision masks irritated me to no end in the third world, but other than that I really enjoyed it. Is there any way to activate the level editor, or did that not make the deadline?

Awesome. The puzzles were really nice!
Collision with the enemies felt a little dodgy though, and stage 3-3 got very hard because of this. Or maybe I'm missing something.

Nope, collision is dodgy, sorry Was kinda rushed... Glad you liked the puzzles anyway [edit] Now that I've slept a bit: I'm really sorry that I made such a mess of the collision! I'm going to fix it today asap! The map editor is basically working, but it's kinda buggy so I decided to leave it out more or less at the last minute. I might just enable it in all it's buggy glory anyway

Nice job! I've never played Crush or anything like that, so the game mechanic was fresh to me. Love games that bend the mind like that.
Some of the timing puzzles were *really* tricky. Especially the one where you have to get in behind the enemies. They're bigger than their sprites would have you believe. =) Pretty clever puzzles; there were a couple where I felt like the solution was my own, even though it was predetermined.
Excellent music. Enjoyable by itself, but nicely sharpens the feel.
Runs in linux under WINE. =)

Cheers, I appreciate that a lot! I actually ended up departing quite a bit from the original mechanic in Crush, but I hope I succeeded at least in demaking the concept Also great to hear that it runs in Wine On a side note I'm looking into maybe getting a mac port later in the week; actually, I could probably just release the source, even though it is horribly rushed and messy... Just wanted to let people know that I've updated the game slightly: I've fixed that little bug where the screen freezes for a few seconds when you complete a stage, I've improved the collision detection with enemies slightly and I've repositions a couple of elements on levels 1-4 and 3-3 so that the jumps aren't as annoying. If you've already downloaded it you can safely skip it, I haven't made any major changes. I was going to enable the buggy mapeditor too, but I think I'd rather sit down and fix it up properly instead I should have that sometime this week

On that: I agree; Josiah rules His myspace is well worth checking out - he also did the soundtrack for an RPG I was working on last year which you can check out here

Only played the first couple levels because I am at work but man I'm loving it so far. Luckily a coworker pointed out the instructions at the bottom because I was oblivious

Very very nice entry. Clever mechanic, decently executed (already mentioned quibbles aside).
I could have done without the enemies, though. Those are just annoying. Now how in the world am I supposed to get to those red marbles without dying...

Be very, very good. Fast helps, too. Easily the hardest level.

Excellent stuff. It's a ingenious way of transferring the Crush mechanics, the music is ace, and some of the latter puzzles are fiendishly difficult.

Finally got to play it all. I think my only complaint is that it kind of shifted from being about figuring out what sequence of movements and squishes will get you through it to being about watching badguys and getting the timing right.
It kind of had that Braid/Portal you-have-to-think-differently-to-play-this-game vibe. That is pretty much the biggest complement I can give to a game.
Maybe I should buy a PSP and play the original.
