Oh well to be honnest I don't have very good looking water tiles at the moment and I am working on a couple projects at the same time so it would be difficult showing it in a flattering manner.
I expect to showcase a little demo project soonish I'll try to include water in it  Gentleman

Water should be made of robots that shoot death rays at the player.

It doesn't matter if it's out of context.

I thought the water in the DS super mario was pretty spectacular.

Water should be made of myriads of tiny nanobots that try to kill you by entering your lungs and blocking your respiration.

That cave flyer thing game that was called Wings or something and was Finnish and I played rather a few years ago had water in it! And you could shoot water, and it sort of floated about, every little pixel of water. Float float float. Not very convincing floating, but cool.
The water in wings was a really crude pixel simulation where every single pixel was a drop of water. It looked really bad when a pool of water had an unequal amount of pixels on the top row - They would 'wander' back and forth on the surface.

A similar but more advanced approach can be found in Clonk Rage, some of which can be

Yeap, it was pretty wonky. First time I saw anything of the kind so I remember it mostly as being awesome anyway Smiley

Oh my, there's a Wings 2. Hooray.

Anybody remember the water in Wetrix? It was all smoke and mirrors but it looked damn fine.
