EDIT: OK, I think I was a bit unjustifiably pretentious here, so this is my little apology.  Regardless, some of the comments quoted here from YoYo are pretty funny, so I'll leave the thread up.

So believe it or not, Cactus has been uploading his games to YoYoGames (the company that now runs Game Maker).

Their site has always left a sour taste with me because it seems like it's trying to make Game Maker more like Flash.  And like many Tigers, I'm not a huge fan of Flash gaming.

So, all these people that go to sites like YoYo are commenting on Cactus' games, and for pretentious people like us, it's quite entertaining.  Especially for his artier games (eg. Illegal Communication and Psychosomnium).  One of the most recurring is of course "too short."   Grin

Here's the link to Cactus' profile; he really is too classy for this site...

I expected more from Tigers...

Length is the one thing you can't complain about in the indie world, especially when you're talking about a one man team.  Games don't need to be long to be good, and many indie games that aim for length never get finished.

I didn't say they were not good, I just said they are short, which they are.

Which makes me wonder, if Cactus makes such great games in few hours/days, I can't imagine what Brain Damaged Toon Underworld will be like, which is a really big project for him, considering.

I'm just saying I would have liked them to be longer.

Because they're awesome.

It has been debunked as a myth.

Never found any to be short. On the other hand, I like short games, so they actually might be too short for someone else.

Which makes me wonder, if Cactus makes such great games in few hours/days,
It has been debunked as a myth.

How is that? I mean, in Arcade, in the description of each game, it says how much time it took. Or that was just a joke, or a bluff?

I don't know but all the games of which he has documented the devellopments have take way more than that. :D
But to be honest my comment was more a joke, maybe he actually did it.

I'm really not to sure.  I think someone who was at No More Sweden with him could probably confirm whether or not he really can make (good) games that fast.

I think Hideous was there.

As for the comments, there really aren't as many stupid ones as I expected there to be.  At least not as many as posted on your average YouTube video.

Yes. And it's true. It was pretty cool to see him work.

He made "Stench Mechanics" there.

If by "commoners" you mean us TIGers, I must say I, a sophisticated gentleman of London blood, am hurt and shocked by that comment, and you, sir, should be ashamed of even comparing us with such low people.

I must also add, for the sake of staying in topic, that I love Cactus' games and consider Psychosomnium to be his greatest piece. Short or not, the man knows how to make good games.

Ahh... the glory of comments on YoYoGames. I love visiting it every now and then only for the sake of what people there write about my and other indie games.

Quote from: Best Clean Asia review ever
It's very fun, but that's balanced by being hard to the extreme. you can't see your ship, and your ship is a freaking DOT. A WHITE DOT. But, graphics are good in all other areas. THE GAME IS WAY TOO HARD, but it has nice geometry wars graphics, and your ship attacks are cool. But, the Attractor's thrust too often leaves me in the middle of an eemy, and then killed. It's fun, but WAY WAY VERY TOO MUCH HARDNESS TO THE 4796th POWER!!!!!!!!!
Mood swings?
