I want to make a robotic horse-racing game (some kind of).
Well, my horse-robots look more like donkeys at this moment.
(I'm going to post some screenshots/artwork later, this evening)

Possible Gamemodes:
  • Time Attack
  • 10 Second Countdown
  • 2 (local) Players

Digital Donkey Dash is a horse racing game.
Since it's one of the oldest sports of all time, it definitely has to be revamped!
Now, that's why we choose rc-controlled donkey-robots instead of real horses.
They are cheap and fast, they last forever, they obey!

Download the game!(~1,2MB)
(The .zip contains a w32 exe)

Controlls:

First, you have to setup your individual buttons to control your donkey:
You can define up to 4 keys for each donkey.
During the race, you press each single button sequently to accelerate.
For example: if you chose: 'Q','W','E','R', you press 'Q' at first, then 'W', then 'E', then 'R'
and then you start over with 'Q' again.
The faster you do this, the faster your donkey runs!

It's perfectly possible to define 3 or 2 keys only. You can even define only one single button and smash on it many a time.

Gamemodes:
  • Time Attack
Run this track (~2400Pixels) as fast as you can!
  • 6s-SPRINT
How far can you run in 6 seconds?
  • TWO PLAYERS
Local multiplayer. Race against your friend!

Credits/Game-info:
I programmed the game from scratch using C++ and SDL.
No other frameworks etc.

Sound comes from Dr. Petters wonderful sfxr!

Please put msvcp100.dll and msvcr100.dll zipped with your game. I had to download them so the game would launch.

I tried playing the game and it wasn't much fun, I suppose the 2 player game would've been better though. The running animation was pretty funny.

I've added the .dlls to the zip-file. (Just in case). It's strange that this error occured on your machine.
Thank you for playing and testing my game.
It's okay if you didn't like the game. Have you already tried the 2-Player game with a friend? It's much more fun!

I was proud of my my 3400ms time until I came to post here and saw your time whilefun. I went back and tried to beat it but I could only get my time down to 2608ms. What tactic are you using? I selected only two keys and quickly rubbed between the two. Anyway nice game Muskox. It's got that track and field button bashing vibe. Good stuff Hand Thumbs Up Left

I think I just got lucky, as I cannot break the 2600 mark now. I was using what I can only describe as a "finger gallop" :D

I'm so glad that you guys are enjoying my game!!

I usually score something between 2700 and 3000 ms!
Whilefun and Oddball, that's really awesome! Congrats to you! You're running faster than the developer of this game!

I play with 4 buttons, btw.
