Not sure if you're still looking for pixel art/animation software but if you are I've heard good things about Aseprite:http://www.aseprite.org/

I haven't used it myself yet but it looks pretty good

This looks great and I very much like the setting!
Cool set of characters too! Would I be able to play as Crowley?

Will keep my eye on this!

Thanks! I really like your work on Pavilion.
You won't be able to directly play as Crowley, but he can be a part of the trek that you will manage (that is, if you really want to take an occultist with you Evil).
The plan is to include a lot of real characters from this time period.

Thanks! I think Pavilion might roam in a similar universe as Incognita.

Yeah, I have heard/read some nasty things about Crowley. Though I am very interested in what happened in the world around the time of early 1900. Especially the spiritual and occult interest around this time harbours a lot of cool stuff.
Have myself been thinking about an alternative history story revolving around the russian mystic Rasputin. He is also a character you might want to consider, cool guy.
Also look at C G Jung, born the same years as Crowley I think, though I would kind of see them at the opposite end of the scale.

Very much enjoying where you are heading so far, keep that up please!

We've did another #screenshotsaturday entry and I thought I might as well put the shot up here.

Can't remember if you mentioned this, but it does remind me of Martian Dreams:

That is an awesome screenshot. I love the whole H Rider Haggard vibe of this.

@happymonster - I'd forgotten all about that game. I seem to remember thinking the execution lagged a little behind the premise, but what a premise.

Wow, this game looks really promising, I'll keep an eye on it. Btw, what language is this programmed in?

YAY, progress.
We've made HUGE steps over the last weekend, which allows me to actually increase the DevLog status icon to 30%.

Also look at C G Jung, born the same years as Crowley I think, though I would kind of see them at the opposite end of the scale.

Yes, psychologist are also an obvious choice for our specialists. However, I'd personally rather include Freud; but then again, we'll be able to have more than one person from any profession, so that would not be an issue.

Can't remember if you mentioned this, but it does remind me of Martian Dreams

Yes, that game is among the list of games that definitely have some influence on us, even if it is only for their premise, and not the execution (as Panurge called so fittingly)

Wow, this game looks really promising, I'll keep an eye on it. Btw, what language is this programmed in?

Right now we're running this in some form of HTML5. However, the sole reason for this is to be flexible and have something that we're able to quickly prototype on. We have not yet made a final decision on which platform and ultimately, in which framework we're going to create the "first" release version  Wink

Great news to hear about the progress being made!

Yes, I see how Freud would be the obvious choice. From personal investigation I think Jung is a tat more interesting though. Especially the *Red Book* work. Nothing that would matter to your game I guess.
But if you like psychology and journeys within yourself I can recommend reading about it. Interesting stuff.
How many different proffessions will there be? And is it hard to balance the different skills of the characters against eachother?

Cool, thanks I'll check it out.
Do you mean the balance for us as developers or the player?
As for the player, working with the individual strategies that specialists allow will play a big role in gameplay.
So yes, we hope that properly handling specialists will be something you'll have to learn and find out what works for your preferred gameplay, in an "interesting challenge" way ;-)

Also, it won't be 100% rigid, since you can fuck up (or get reaaaally unlucky) and loose a specialist during your expedition; however, if you're lucky you can pick up another one at some other point. So your strategy will be changing and adjusting to the situation over the course of an expedition anyway.

Interesting to see something as underused as cannibals. Fits the setting well.

Given the scientific background of several of the characters, though, I'm hoping there's a clever explanation for zombies. Tongue

Oh and congrats on 30%!

EDIT: Phrasing.

Congratulations on the 30% I can only imagine what that feels like right now :D But it's an achievement! :D

Wow this looks really cool!
The title made me think of Terranova and actually the screenshots do that too.
The simplistic artstyle is great and I can't wait to play this.
