I've been wanting to join the sports compo all month, but I didn't have any idea of what to make until two days ago, when I had an epiphany-- I'll make a realistic first person racquetball game!

I'm making it in Unity, and I'm gonna do my best to have something playable in the next couple of days before the competition ends.

So far I have the court set up and the physics are working. The player can hit the ball, but there aren't any rules implemented yet.

Here's a screenshot of the court:

Here's a playable build, any feedback would be much appreciated Smiley

Use WASD for movement
Left mouse button is a hard hit with the racket
Right mouse button is a softer hit with the racket

Its still kind of rough, and there's not much in the way of a menu, but it is actually a pretty good simulation of what it would be like if you were locked in a racquetball court and weren't allowed to pick up the ball, lol. The ball 'bounce' and 'hit racket' sounds were provided by a friend, and I'm very pleased with them.

Music and a menu coming next! Also the ability to reset the ball!

Latest Version:
Added the ability to reset the ball. Press "R" to get the ball from wherever it is and drop it back in front of the player. Useful for when the ball dies or when it occasionally passes through the walls.

Pretty realistic look and feel for raquetball. I hope you pursue it more after the compo. 2 player would be great with a little polish Smiley

Thanks for the kind words! Unity's physics engine made it pretty simple to approximate the ball's behavior. I'd definitely like to add a cpu to play against, and adding support for multiplayer would be a great learning experience for me.

Nice idea; however, it's render unplayable for me when moving the mouse like five pixels will cause a 360 degree turn. Sad It might be a matter of how I have my mouse configured, I don't know. Anyway, first-person racketing sounds amusing, so I hope you keep working on this.
