Haven't downloaded it yet (hopefully tomorrow) but the video looks really good. Fun to know the chef himself suggested the music!

Much learned during this small project, some lessons surfacing only during translating in japanese which reflects back to the FAMICOM. For instance, the exclusion of kanji altogether, as opposed to hiragana/katakana, due to their complexity not fitting into an 8x8 space- I learned this quirk alone gives japanese gamers their own uniquely nostalgic feelings. I also learned due to special markings on many characters, which were also placed in 8x8 tiles, text was always double-spaced. It also explained why english words like SCORE and TIME were often used in japanese games, because they fit more easily into the graphical interfaces

I've got to say, I wish that the game lock my column right when it collides with another set column, I wish I had a second or something to slide across if you know what I mean.

Other than that I'm having a lot of fun playing this game! Smiley

Thanks, I didn't think to put in that timer. The game does allow a brief time after landing and before locking, to rotate through the block. That timer is reset with every rotate input. Also the game allows some vertical wiggle room- a falling block that is a couple pixels below a block on the left or right, can still lock on top of it by shifting left or right

Finally got a chance to play it, wow it's… great! Everything works so well together, real joy to play!

The only weird thing was that the game stopped responding to cursor keypresses after a while so I had to close it (Esc key). Restarted it and it works normally now so maybe it was just something with my computer.

Thanks Smiley What do you mean by 'cursor' keypress?

I placed timers between screens/instructions/story text which will ignore input for a brief time, so the player doesn't accidently flip through it. But to stop responding to every keypress, but still recognize your ESC press would be odd. Did the menus stop working?

The left / right were the first to stop working during the actual game (story mode), but up / down still worked normally. Of course then I lost the game so ended up at the the main menu, at which point even the up / down zxc stopped working. The next thing I tired was pressing random stuff, one of which was Esc, which actually worked and closed the game.

Never had it happen since, I'll report back if it happens again.

Anyway great game, I hope the chef likes it too!

Thank you very much for your time to report that strange activity. I have not been able to recreate that problem, but I will keep trying. If you happen to remember which level in Story mode the problem started, and/or what you were doing at the time (perhaps pausing the game or turning a block) I may be able to narrow down a rare circumstance somewhere

The chef and his wife love the game, but Ryo says he's not good at video games

Hand Any Key Version 1.1 released: Fixed an audio bug in Story mode where the wrong chain+score sound would often play when scoring an Ace
