Hi! I'm part of a fresh indie studio from Salzburg/Austria and I'd like to introduce our Game "Noomix" to you!

Noomix is a 3rd person puzzle shooter with a strong focus on individual gameplay for Windows, Mac, Linux and Browser and is developed with Unity3d.

You are Gordo the apetronaut, crash-landed on the fascinating planet of the Noomies. Your spacesuit allows you to merge with those little witty creatures and use their powerful abilities. Help Gordo to use those powers wisely in order to leave for home again!

The game is currently Alpha, we are testing the multiplayer functionality and tweak the parameters in order to increase the overall multiplayer experience.

There are four different types of "noomies" which stands for different abilities:
Red - Strength
Green - Range
Blue - Speed
Yellow - Splash

Gordo can collect the Noomies and merge them to different slots of his spacesuit.
When you merge a blue noomie (speed) for example with your gun-slot, you get a machinegun. The green one would be a sniper rifle.
If you merge the green noomie (range) with your shoe-slot, you can jump higher. There is also one melee-slot, which has counter effects. The blue noomie would be a kind of TASER which takes the opponents speed bonus. Do you get the idea?

With this mechanics we want to build challenging puzzles in the singleplayer mode and let the players "choose their class" in realtime during a multiplayer match.

What is done so far
Character Movement
3rd Person camera
Gun-Slot works with every noomie
Noomies Basic AI
Enemy Basic AI
Shoes are working with every noomie
Basic Multiplayer with 2 Modes (Deathmatch, Teamdeathmatch)
Ugly but functional Menu (Host Game, Join Game, Login...)
Singleplayer Gameplay Logic

What's next?
Singleplayer levels
Multiplayer Maps
Story elements
Melee slot

What's next next?
Matchmaking
Multiplayer Bots

Please feel free to check out our website at www.noomix.at for more infos and artworks(!) or follow us on @noomix_game
And we would be pleased if you like Noomix on Facebook!

Thanks for the feedback!  Beer!
We are currently working on the first singleplayer levels, since we were developing and testing the gameplay functionality in a sandbox level by now. From now on, everything gets put together in order to make a singleplayer campgain. There will be very tricky and challenging puzzles to solve. Most of those puzzles can be solved in different ways - because of the combinatorics of the noomie powers.

Additionally, we are testing the multiplayer modes Deathmatch and Teamdeathmatch in order to fix bugs and tweak values for balancing. Next Tuesday is our first internal alpha-testing session!! #beer

The pit of our first Multiplayer Map "Deck" is now more populated. We did our first internal alpha-tests on this map, aaaand we are glad that we had no major bugs or showstoppers Wink
It was the first time that we realized that the multiplayer mode is fun!  Durr...? So we are very motivated to develop it further after the holidays in order to make external alpha tests.

In case you want help us testing, please contact me at rene[HERE COMES THE AT SIGN]noomix.at!

We used the last week to implement the following features:

  • Force shield
  • Cut Scene Manager
  • Merge menu GUI (for merging Noomies with the different spacesuit slots)
  • Modelling a cave for the tutorial level
  • Updated the audio manager

Here you can see the all new force shield:

Wait, you just shove little innocent creatures into your space suit to do your bidding?
That's... That's... Horrible!

When I look at the screenshots and the character design, I'm reminded of Earthworm Jim, in a good way. Are you planning a lot of action comedy in there?

Keep up the good work!  Gentleman

Thank you all guys for the compliments! These keep us motivated!

Gordo is a serious scientist, he has no sense for humor. But the Noomies are the more amusing counterpart, so you can expect some comedy Wink

Noomix Multiplayer UPDATES

This week we had our second in-house alpha test evening and spent about 4 hours of testing, gaming and - most of all - having a lot of fun.

Of course we found some minor (and also major) bugs, but most of the new features work well and are really fun to play with.

So, what's new?
It's now possible to build functional Objects using our little Noomies! This feature is especially usefull when playing in Team-Deathmatch to get advantages for you and your allies moving around through the level.

With a red Noomie you can build solid blocks - so you can build stairs, walls, bridges. These blocks can also snap to existing blocks in order to build more complex structures. With a blue Noomie you can build speedup pads which gives your character a short boost. A green Noomie transforms to a jump pad to reach higher  places. And the yellow Noomie can be transformed to a deadly spikes field to block the enemies way through the level.

Here you can see the Noobjects in game:

We improved the controls as well as a lot of gameplay values like the game speed, weapon's damage, health, ... so the gameplay is gradually becoming smooth and final. We tested two game modes: Deathmatch and Team-Deathmatch. All game stats are now stored in a database including a leaderboard of all players.

During the session we have captured a lot of videos which will soon be presented as a new trailer, so stay tuned for further updates!

Here are some in game screenshots from the testing session. (Please remember, Noomix is in alpha state):
