I never ever ever ever want to see the game I made again. Ever.

Oh yeah, I can easily just play my game.
I guess the first thing I should mention is that I don't actually code it or anything, I handle the graphics and design.
So, there aren't really any surprises for me other than discovering glitches, but it's like how in games like super metroid, I know every damn thing in the game, but I still play it and enjoy it a lot more than most brand new games.

It's hard for me to switch out of designer mode, but I usually tend to test my game, which sometimes lead to playing the game all the way through for absolutely no reason other than what I assume is fun. In any case, if I feel like doing that, then I think that other people will also find it fun.

I'm gonna try to put some statistics modules into the prerelease versions of my next game to track where users go, how they do different things, and where they get hit and die. After that, I should be able to tweak the game to be a bit more uniform.

We can fix it with data.

Your first comment on tig is on a 2007 old post, promoting your own stuff. I'm genuinely curious if the effort you put in is worth it, in any way?!
Considering that you might get banned soon, a quick advice before you go: Try actual engagement with people on this forum OR in general. Will take you probably less time compared to what you're already doing and might end up with some connections in the industry.
Food for thought! Coffee

lol, what did this .TakaM guy do to you to deserve this beat down Alex?

Lots of times I enjoy my own games, but when I'm trying to balance the difficulty its hard for me because I know what I'm subjecting the player to and measuring how frustrated I can make the game for them.

I shed a tear for all the players who will have to go up against my evil machinations.

Hard love can change people's life, man.
Plus, pointing things out that requires to be pointed out have a better chance of getting them solved as compared to ignoring it and moving on with our day.

I'm sure .TakaM guy is now reconsidering his life choices... right .TakaM guy?!    Hand Point Left Ninja Hand Knife Right

Alot of the time I play too much in the sense of a developer(I.E is this giving out errors or not). Lately i've been doing a mixture of both game developer and player. Where I play long enough i can see some serious issues in the game design. but with a developer mindset of thinking if it worth's working on it or not(with the goal of being to improve the gameplay and foundation and not hide it under pretty graphics). or at least that's what i try to work towards. I dunno if it's actually useful or not

Every time when I need to test my own game I'm just trying to pretend that this is not my game. This is the game made by another guy, who looks and acts just like me... And I really hate that guy. So I'll criticize and write down every minor issue and every detail that I don't like in the game just to make that guy upset.

Sounds crazy, but sometimes it works Smiley

Playing your own game is essential. But so is feedback from new players who have never played it. Both are necessary  WTF
