Hi,

ApoMono started as a Java 4k game and is a remake of F.O.L.D. by cosine.

It is a puzzle game where you have to pick up blocks and fold the screen. I love that gameplay and want to port it to android and add more levels and tiles to have more and longer fun with the game. So ... now I do it. =)

It looks like this

Try the android version. Download from the playstore.

Today I implemented another "folding mode".
Now you can fold the level vertically and horizontally.

Click on the image to start an animation. In the gif you can see how the game works and how to solve a level with both folding modes. =)

Next step:
- gravity change like in vvvvv
- levels levels levels

Today I made levels, levels and levels and I pimped the editor.

I am happy with the result. All in all I have 60 levels at the moment.
Minimum 40 levels still missing. =)

Today I show a screenshot from the editor. All levels were made with that editor.

Today I implemented an one step back button because in the hard levels it was frustrating to make a mistake at the end and you had to solve the whole level again. Now press the undo button. It is a little but VERY nice feature. =)

Today I ported it to android and tested it with the Nexus 7 and Samsung S3 and it runs fine. =)

But it would be great if I can find other beta testers. So if you want to test the game on your android smartphone please write me a message. Big thanks.

I had the gb color scheme idea because the rest of the graphics are so minimaltistic (only rectangles etc).
What would you prefer: Another color scheme or change the colors every level?

But I implemented a black and white color scheme at the moment too. You can choose in the options what color scheme do you want. Perhaps I will add some more colors.(?)

If you want to try it out, download the desktop version.

Today I added a new tile: the Portal.

Now you can beam you between two portals or you beam a block to another place.
That is fun. =)
The game is growing and growing.

Today I removed bugs ... big big thanks to all beta testers.
And I added some more levels.

Next step is the music ... someone has a good idea? Good 8 or 16 bit free music for the game? =)

Today I added a new tile: the one step tile. After running over it, it will explode.

Now there is a new tile and feature stop. I will only add more levels and some music and then the game is ready.  Cool
But if you want to test the game, download the beta for desktop PC or ask me if you want the android beta version.

Now there is a new tile and feature stop.

Sounds smart. Reading through the thread, I felt a bit overwhelmed by the number of tile types. Similar to how I reacted to the different features in Portal 2. Each felt far less explored than the portal was just in the first.

I'm having some difficulty running this on OSX. I certainly have java installed. The .jar just barfs an error at me, and I'm not well-versed enough in the Java ecosystem to track down the error in the console. Advice?

Oh sorry the game was compiled with Java 1.7.

I uploaded an unpdated jar compiled with 1.6. Now it should work.

The last days I updated the ui (made buttons bigger, other positions etc).

Now music is the next big step. It isn't easy to find the right song but I will master it. =)

Thanks to Eric Skiff. His music fits perfectly into the game.
And I made some sound effects with sfxr. Great little tool.

I added some ads in the android version (but only in the menu, not ingame).

Theoretically I can publish it now to the android store or I make some more levels.
Do you think: 80 levels are enough?
