I had a bunch of free time during lunch-time so I whipped up this tiny editor. Plus I wanted to try out the html5 canvas some more.

Click it!!

You have two layers to work with, one is for background tiles and stuff without transparency and the other one is for objects and whatnot.

I took the latest tileset and added transparency where it seemed appropriate. Don't look at the code, it's ugly.

Hey guys!

In case someone wants some platformer sprites, I can post some old stuff I never used.

(If this counts as thread-derailing, I'll delete these posts)

Here's my long-abandoned "Super Miyamoto Land" sprites, starring Shigeru Miyamoto himself.

For some stupid reason I had these as loose sprites, so I went ahead and packaged them using one of those texture-packagers, so it might need some manual tweaking to be useful.

Contains regular/small Miyamoto-san, along with Magician suit and Squirell suit. The idea was, the power-up for the magician suit would be two bunny ears sticking up out of a block, and when he touches them, he pulls out the rabbit and becomes a Magician.

Here's Princess Yasuko (named after Miyamoto's wife):

Figure it'd be decent for a platformer. Let me throw together some of the tile sheets I had for that that I never used.

Here's some tiles from Miyamoto land. For whatever reason???, some of these aren't 16x16, so that's why the grid is irregular.

The game would have "cointridges":

And this was one of the bad guys:

If anyone likes these, I can try to dig up more.

Wow, thanks all for your contributions!

Derek: Would you be happy if I reworked some of these tiles to fit in 12 x 12 for this project?

I made some "actual placeholder" textures a while ago. Like, to test stuff like transparency, pixel sizes, uv coords, etc. Feel free to use them as you wish.

Some examples:

64x64, non transparent:

256x256, transparent:

typical "R" texture:

"3m":

Everything in here:

(disregard the blurry thumbnails, those are just upscaled "miniatures")

That editor makes me want to make a huge collaborative online tile-based game, like Farb's drawing thing but with controllable characters, etc... :/

I'm conscious of the fact that there are a lot of fantasy tiles, but hardly any for a platformer, or sci-fi setting. Any one want to help with that or have any suggestions for tiles needed? Smiley
