I'm working on a Unity based game that is targeted for Android and iOS release.  If it does well there, I'd love to port it to PC / Mac / Linux later too.  I've used Google Analytics in the past for a game, but had to do a lot of custom events work in order to get some more game oriented tracking, rather than website oriented tracking.  Google has since released GA Mobile, but after reading their docs it doesn't seem to add much more to the experience.

I'm looking for well established and supported analytics platforms.  I'm willing to pay for additional features but would prefer a free option in case I don't find much use from the service.  Anyone have recommendations?  Here are a few I've found from searching, if anyone has experience with these it'd be great to hear your thoughts as well.

Right now, I'm leaning towards Flurry.

Google (Mobile) Analytics http://analytics.google.com
+ free, documented, large user base, funnels
- more tailored for websites / apps, not games, somewhat difficult for a layman to glean information from

Playtomic https://playtomic.com/
+ free, with paid upgrade options, heatmaps, counters, average values, level specific metrics, download game vars (change things without having to make a new build)
- only aggregate analytics, no user session info, install info, user demographics, device demographics, though they say these are coming, but not soon.

TestFlight Live https://testflightapp.com/sdk/live/
+ Already using TestFlight for testing, real-time, session info, install info, revenue info,
crash reports
- iOS only, unclear on how checkpoints can be used to track events with Live, not much documentation on Live (as of now)

Flurry http://www.flurry.com/flurry-analytics.html
+ free, well established (since 2008), custom events, ad network integration, demographics, funnels
- Will have to integrate into Unity manually

You said established so this maybe isn't as relevant but I had a demo of the following (And we have a beta account to try when we get chance soon) but might be worth a look.

Flurry is what we use in all of our current iOS titles very successfully, sometimes we do want real-time analytics though so waiting on Flurry to update can be annoying (but it does prevent kneejerk responses to A/B tests or other decisions being made based off results).

Thanks barog.  I can't find any information about the service on the page though.  Perhaps you could update back after you've given GameAnalytics a try?

Good to know that Flurry has been successful for you, thanks.

Hi -

We've also used Flurry alot, I'd so go with it.

The other thing- with Unity, you can "drop" Flurry in easily if you get the Prime31 plugins.

http://prime31.com/plugins

Though you'd have to buy ios and android versions of the plugins.

Good luck with your project!

ps If you do go with flurry, take some time to figure out the best way to code events. It's not so good at counting and comparing multiple things at the same time in a single event.

We've used Flurry and Google Analytics. Flurry is pretty great - easy to implement, easy to read stats.

Google Analytics was a bit of a pain - as you said it's not super readable, you definitely have to do a bit of work to get useful info out of it.

However overall, I think GA is a better product. It works cross-platform - we're using a Unity plugin that uses the http interface which means we can use it in web, standalone, mobile, anywhere.

GA also has realtime stats now, which admittedly isn't *super* useful; but it's great to be able to see how many people are playing right now, and what they're doing.

We just checked many for our upcoming game, and Flurry is our clear choice.

Another vote for Flurry here, I integrated it into my apps with ease and it seems to work well so far.
