That picture is awesome, if this game had terrible realistic box art it would look like this.

Thanks everyone! I'm glad you guys like it, today I'm adding some more enemies so far I got this  little bugger added:

There will be dozens of these little guys digging up from the ground and swarming your cactus at certain points in the game.

Thanks!
Not too many big updates today, I can only work on this game part time so the big post with screenshots will come this weekend. In the mean time here's some sprites and info on some characters:

Burds
Along your cacto journey you will be aided by these birdies. They might land on your cactus and make themselves a nest, giving your cactus different kinds of needles. Finding these birds might not be an easy task as the witchdoctor's creatures have many of them
locked up in cages. It's sort of like a you scratch their back they scratch your back kinda thing.

Ojoes
These are the witchdoctor's prime demons. Tricky little devils rose from the spirit world just to give your cactus a bad time. They might appear harmless at first but as you progress through the game so will their arsenal of tricks.

They like dumb outfits.

Neat, I like the centipede thing

Does the frame overlay have a specific purpose? I feel like the game would look better without it. It looks like it just make the game feel more confined

It really has no purpose other than to look cool, it was going to have a HUD integrated into though. Here's a shot of the game without the border.

I thought the same of @Andy the first time I saw your (really nice looking) screenshots: that overlaying frame is not helping to the game (at least for now).
I think it looks much better without it, it was too exagerated.

Otherways, the game is looking fantastic, and the name is simply perfect. Keet it up Beer!!

This is gorgeous - has the work gone into graphics alone or is there a playable element to it? I can't wait to see how the game "feels"...  Smiley

It is playable right now but it's still in very early stages the basic engine is there I'm just working on building from the parts of the engine that are most fun.

Thanks! I think I'll keep it without the overlay, it did open up more play area.

Here's another screen of some new enemy types:

And a quick doodle of what the witchdoctor looks like:
