Are you sure you don't want to practice more before getting paid?
This isn't a mad dash for money; making games is basically just for fun (most of the time)
By the way, how long have you been doing sprites? It's not a matter of "blah blah time makes people better," I just want to know.

Compared to most other paid artists, most of this is poor.

I recently used puffergames for some artwork in a game I'm prototyping; it may not be AAA HD graphics, but he was extremely prompt and willing to work with me on everything.  I think you're underselling the quality; these sorts of graphics are used all the time on phone apps and smaller titles.  And like you said, as long as he enjoys what he's doing, then what does it matter?  He might as well put up a post and see if anyone responds; that's how I found him.
