This is Shootout. It's just a tiny freeware thing. Good fun though, methinks.

Features
  • Fast, skillful gameplay. (Complete)
  • Adjustable player traits. (Complete)
  • Several interactive stages. (WIP)
  • Sweet graphics and animations. (WIP)

Downloads
Here is a download link if anyone would like to try it out. Constructive criticism and compliments alike are welcome. It functions with two players using one keyboard(WASD and cursor keys). Further instuctions on how to play are included in a (temporary)text file... Enjoy!

  • Custom Versus
Addition of the options menu allows for customization.

Progress is coming along nicely.

Updates
  • Player traits control max life, max ammo, reload speed, bullet velocity, bullet damage, jump hangtime, and recovery speed.
  • Optional HUD shows lifebar and ammo, and adapts to changes in player traits.
  • New screenshot showing HUD.

Check it...

Still needs some work, but most of this should be final.

Thanks swordpond.

So folks, I've been off the job for a couple of days - the first day due to laziness, and the second due to sickness. I'm just picking up again now. Some minor adjustments need to be made and then I'll be creating new and interesting stages... Yup. Should be cool.

At first I wondered why you chose DnB music, then it went all noirey and funky. Where's the music from?

Anyways love the colour scheme, just a shame it's only 2 player right now. I made a game like this ages ago, kinda brings back some good memories haha.

The music is from Bomberman Hero(N64). Still trying to find a musician...

I forgot that I still had to get the options menu up and running... That's just about implemented now, but it took away the time I had to work on stages. I did however come up with some ideas:

Mountain: Changing winds alter bullet speed.
River: (On boats) Rough waves displace players' vertical position.
Sewer: High sewage makes low shots difficult to see.
The Moon: Jump hangtime is infinite.
Cave: Sudden quakes disrupt the entire view.

And many more..! Exciting!

New demo up and ready for playing!

Options menu is fully operational, but I still havn't made any proper stages. That's the next step - a handful of awesome stages. Not sure how many will make it into the final game. At least six. Maybe twelve.

I've decided to make this a smaller project and therefor have cut the single player adventure mode in favor of a single player arcade mode. I intend for this to be just a little freeware thing for now, though I hope to come back to it at another time and add all of the features and polish needed to make this a truely complete game.

More about the arcade mode soon.

Nope. No arcade mode. I've been working on other projects. I don't particularly want to work on this one any more. Additional stages may or may not be made. Another freeware project without the necessary motivation. At least it's not completely dead... yet. Tongue
