Looks great! I do wish the image was of slightly higher resolution though. I wanted to zoom in and look at all the glorious details.

Also, kind of envious of your warm weather in Australia. This is what's expected next week here in Chicago: http://i.imgur.com/mlCEpY6.jpg

I'll see what I can do for next time! Personally I'd take snow over this weather anyday; skiing, iceskating and marshmallows beats desperately avoiding sunlight and trying not to melt. There was a fire just out of town today so we were like this all day. Despite the heat, we have started to implement more features in the notes menu: moving notes around, and zoom. They aren't quite finished, but its a good start, and its nice to no longer have the 300x200 limit on note size.

Apologies for the short gif and low framerate (I am having some issues, really should update to a newer machine...):

Hello again! Sorry about the long dark from our end of things, with Australia Day and a bunch of personal things, we have been working on the game and not telling anyone about it!!!

Here are some of the more exciting developments. We are working on a few cutscenes at the moment, some of which require some extensive artwork we are only beginning to contemplate, so wish us luck with that one! The others are going pretty smoothly, and we are spending the rest of our time implementing features from our master list aka dream journal. A couple of them are here:

Here is a bridge being pulled:

Here is a bridge being pulled from the wrong direction:

Here is another item, later in the game

These aren't quite finished but are pretty much there, so we are actually making a lot of progress from the gameplay perspective! I should hopefully have some more beautiful graphics to show you in the next few days!

Note: There are some sprite hot-spotting issues at the moment so please be gentle  Shrug

Hey everyone! We are putting in a bunch of cutscenes, which we can't show you a lot of because they'll ruin the whole game for you. Here are some screenshots of a new area though! Yay! Still not exactly perfect, but moving in the right direction.

Feel free to give us your thought/feedback!

Do you plan to release on Steam ?

If possible. We are still working out our best release route; at the moment, I don't think we will be successful on Steam Greenlight, so it remains to see whether we release it ourselves, through a publisher or however.

Is there a demo or a playable level or anything?

There are only one or two testing levels at the moment, but not available to everyone yet. The reason for this is we are trying to implement all the difficult parts that would be hurdles to development, and most of these are cutscenes and some of the gameplay elements. This has been working really well, but it does mean we don't have any playable demos to release. We should be releasing one in the coming months though!

For the text please use something besides times new roman. There's way cooler and original options and lots of sites with free fonts to choose from. Hell, make a custom one that fits the mood of the game itself. Well, at least you didn't use comic sans. Good luck with the project.

At the moment we are using Georgia, because it should be pretty much universally installed on every computer running the game.

You're using Flashpunk, correct? Why not just embed a free-to-use font? Unless of course, you prefer the font you have.

I didn't know this was possible (although Ben might have, he's much more experienced in flashpunk)! We are looking into other fonts at the moment, so I'll try to have a look at a few variations. Any suggestions? I had a look at Quaver Sans today, but it is sadly not free. We probably need something with italic (as well as regular), although theoretically (from a very superficial look) we could use multiple fonts.

Now I get to look at a whole bunch of fonts though, which is better than porn. Beer!

OK, here are a bunch of fonts we were looking at.

Imperium

Josephine Bold

Josephine Semi-Bold Italic

Quicksand Italic

Quicksand

Any thoughts? We're going to keep looking for any more.

We are working on some stuff for our third area today.

The first is just the beginnings of some art assets and graphical style:

The second is testing a new effect to make some of the interactable objects more visible. Its not finished, we are making it smaller and less commanding:

Should have more to you at the end of the day; Ben has much more spare time now so we are devoting some serious time to the game.

This is looking cool. I like the particles on the item that you can interact with, but I don't think it draws the eye enough. Maybe you should constrain creation of the particles to a smaller area around the item; currently the particles and the item on the ground seem a bit unrelated.

Thanks! Yeah its a bit of an issue, we're not super keen on having prompting above the player so we'll have to think of something non-invasive to draw attention to how you can interact with it...

Ben has been working hard all day on some new things. There were some speedbumps along the way:

But you can now kick down this part of the wall! Isn't it beautiful?!

We had an excellent planning session with our musician, so soon we should be seeing some music in game! Waaagh!

Ah, I see you got the fonts working just fine with FlashPunk :D

This reply is a bit late, but I second the third font, followed by the first font.

Yes, thank you! We're still tossing up, perhaps looking at other options too.
