Am I the only one finding chapter 7 somewhat though?
I feel like an important word is missing from that sentence, perhaps?

There's just a slightly misspelled word in it.

Also, I'm not yet in Chapter 7 (just about), but I'm already getting to notice the increase in difficulty.

Wait until you fight the bosses on the snowy mountain, the volcano, and the tropical island (for those of you who are already there, the underwater boss is a wuss in comparison, which is why I have not counted him). I have smashed my keyboard in fury thanks to them. You really need to think up how the fuck will you manage to stand up against them, because otherwise get prepared to get raped, without vaseline.

Seriously, chapter 7 is goddamn bossfest extravaganza.

Oh, and don't make the same mistake I did: when you get to a spoileriffic tower on chapter 4 or 5, and get into a strange room, get the fucking item that's guarded by a certain mechanical boss. From what I have heard, it makes your life far easier.

Thanks for the tip, I'm just about to enter the tower and will look out for it.

But yeah, I found that ALL bosses kind of were ridiculously hard compared to the (in comparison) extremely weak regular enemies, especially when you had just one party member (since healing and attacking in one turn is kind of not possible)

Something I am not liking (in a good way, if that makes sense) is that later enemies are quite strong on their own as well. Whatever level you have for the PK [Love] (which is often your biggest offensive spell) just won't kill them in one shot. Sometimes they even need thrice that spell to get killed.

You know, a few days ago I said this game was moderatedly difficult, now I am finding it quite hard. But it makes each victory far more rewarding.

yay!

One quick question though. I never played through the original Earthbound although I loved it's style and am don't really know how connected m2 and 3 are...

should I finish earthbound first or doesn't it really matter?

I think you may get one or two "aha" moments if you played Earthbound, but I wouldn't deem it vital.

The stories are linked, but it's not hugely important.

Wait until you fight the bosses on the snowy mountain,

Easy.

the volcano,

Easy.

and the tropical island

What I don't get is why does PK Fire do 80 damage one round and 170 the next Sad

If I remember correctly, they change their weakness every time they make a new pose; you can use Boney's Sniff to find out what PSI to use every time they change it.

I still had to grind until I got PSI Shield Omega though.  Sad
Oh, I meant it's PK Fire, not mine

It would be so much less disturbing if he wouldn't face the guy with his back.

I doubt that.

In this game you can really run out of money. I noticed that in the middle of the fifth chapter.

Also, I haven't died at any boss so far, except the final boss. I really need to buy some healing items, there's just not enough PP Tongue.

Yeah, I only barely won on the final boss, and I devoted everything to healing and had like 10 full-healing items. I think the key thing to do is to increase your defense, make sure you do that with defense up once or twice.

Well, yeah. I think it could be the basic rule to use defense/offense up on your party during boss fights while lowering the boss's defense/offense.
