Hi guys!

I just completed this music for an independent game developer in Finland.

The song consists of two parts. The first part(Approach) sets the atmosphere. The second part (Probe) begins with the bass driven groove. It can loop itself seamlessly in the game. The version below is the complete version.

The game is called Big Blue World Domination. It is a retro strategy game that you try to conquer the world with secret agents in your super secret base. If you would like to hear the song with the game you can download here (PC). Game atmosphere is close to the classic UFO and simpler. It is prepared for the monthly competition of Adventure Game Studios, so gameplay is not fully tweaked.

Wasn't going to make this public but it seems like a good way to start promoting the game...

Music is for the upcoming indie game Windhaven, which will be on XBox Live and PC.  It's the final battle music from the game(huge spoiler in terms of music... but oh well). :p

Guitar work was arranged/performed by Anthony Morgan(Link for his SC profile is on YT video info).

I'd love some feedback on these track loops.  I have many more to do. Thanks.

I kind of like these... very minimal and not too obtrusive. I'd encourage a few lengthier loops for inside levels, mind - especially longer ones. game looks fun too!

First post! I am pretty anxious to work with some game makers.

So far I have worked on a student game called Matsuri, for which I made an interchanging pair of songs per stage (instrument recordings/instrument samples):
Matsuri - Swamp (Human World)
Matsuri - Swamp (Demon World)

I also made a set of tracks in an effort to land the Gunpoint music gig (synthesizers, sampled drums): Future-noir Set
and a short chiptunes EP called Spectrogrammar.

So there's a variety of styles and formats. Dig it!

Hey they were pretty darn nice! The demon world one was cool, all smooth and jazzy.

Also, I think I recognize you from somewhere...Were you streaming Lone Survivor last night?

I'm going to come back some point this week and comment on a bunch of the stuff that's been posted recently, but until then...

Just put a new piece up on bandcamp. It's a kind of noise-based drone composition inspired by the likes of Burning Star Core and such. Have a listen here if you like :D

I did this image for it too:

It's a nice sprintimey/summery track so perfect for now.

Sanojian

I think it's really nice. I like the sad or travelling a lonely space kind of feeling it creates. The noise adds a lot to it as well, if it's not accidental, though you should try to lower the volume of that a little. Overall it sounds a lot like music for some old tv-series, something sci-fi related. As how to improve, I don't know. I think it's great just as it is but an obvious improvement would be to make it longer and more interesting. You're currently just repeating the main theme. Keep up the good work!

Calum Bowen

Did you compose the music after the editing was done? I mean watching the film and writing music to fit each shot. If so, nicely done. If not, even more nicely done. At first I didn't notice it but in the end, it was great and added a lot it. Especially the smile at 2:56, I laughed when hearing that sound.

Nate_G

Honestly, I don't know what to say because this is the kind of music I know nothing about. I like it, but I can't really sit down and listen to it. Though, I can see it working very well as an background ambience in a game. It reminds me of what Doom 3 did with its eerie ambient sounds, I wish more games were like that. What is it for? What is supposed to go on in it? Please tell me more Smiley

TristezaOrange

The first thing I noticed was the mechanic sound of the base, it's very precise and sounds a lot like picked bass, but this kind of music should be more relaxed and softer. Fretless bass maybe? Smiley
Sorry, I can't explain it very well but I hope you get my point. Other than that I like it, made me a little happier. The singing is okay, though could of course be improved.

Composed after! Smiley but i'm working on something now where i'm composing before and the film's being edited to the music. Both quite different processes - after working to footage a part of me wishes to see some stuff before blindly heading off to write a some music for this next project. Thanks for such detailed feedback Eigen - something that gets a little overlooked on this thread (by me especially).

Thanks for taking the time to comment, eigen!

The bass (and also the drum) track were supposed to be temporary, to be replaced by "real" (VSTi "real" that is, but certainly more realistic) tracks later. But I have grown strangely attached to them so they are staying for the time being. Smiley Believe me - my singing is rarely described as anything better than "god awful" so "okay" is a huge compliment. :D
