@hoffmanIV well, I'm not sure what your background is or where you're at with it, but you can't go wrong transcribing solos & playing along with the actual solos. For bebop I'd recommend going straight to the source: Charlie Parker & Bud Powell. Play along with your instrument, put lines in different keys, etc. Although I guess the all keys thing is not too much of a guitarist thing. Sweet chiptunes

Thanks zminusone! Nah, the all keys thing (although overlooked by most guitarists) is actually one of my primary goals. C minor, A dorian, D harmonic minor, Bb wholetone, doesn't matter. I have to know keys and relationships like the back of my hand because I want to write and perform modal and more harmonically challenging music. xD
As far as that's concerned, I'm already pretty good with my fretboard. Knowing which pitches I'm playing isn't a problem, and I know enough note relationships to be able to figure out most scales and arpeggios fast enough. One issue is probably not knowing enough licks to be able to convincingly look like I know what I'm doing. Probably should just do that, and then maybe do some kind of osmosis thing where I allow the licks to show up in my playing because I've played them enough?
Anyway, I don't mean to get us off topic! Sorry for that folks.

Hello! Here is a link to a recently uploaded acoustic performance of one of my pop/rock originals (I have that side of my musical voice, too ). It's called Laws of Gravity. I know it's not necessarily game-related music, but it's my music nonetheless! I hope you enjoy it EDITED: I don't know why I have such trouble linking YouTube videos x_x;

I also make non-game related music of course, sometimes I even make sample sessions, where I toy with samples live or on the fly or what you will call it. EDIT: Found your link, Tony. Very nice. The recording is a bit low, but very nice that you both play and sing on this.

So I made this theme a week or two ago for a game by a friend of mine. Apparently the friend of concern wished to use tracks from my Alias album for gameplay, so this may be the only original piece for this game, but still! https://soundcloud.com/pythonblue/winged-victory-theme

I especially like the transition section at 0:58. It works really well going into the next section . I just released a single and B-side on bandcamp yesterday. Both tracks are chiptunes: one that was for a GBjam and the other for a friend's student game. I hope you guys like them! https://soundcloud.com/jordanoakley-1/amazonian-tripFeel free to also like my facebook page if you're feeling generous

Pretty swell stuff you've got going on there. The first one makes me think of Super Mario 2/Doki Doki Panic's "Underground" theme. I've got a couple, not chiptunes: Normal (Outdoors)Theme of Sarah

I want to show off some stuff that isn't chiptune and involves advanced production techniques as well as instrument performances. These aren't original pieces of music, but arrangements of songs from games I like. The first is a medley of some tunes from Perfect Dark. The second is a medley of tunes from Gunstar Heroes. Both are done as metal genre tracks. (The guy who plays most of the bitchin' solos is my bandmate, Jesse. I'll be doing more lead work in the videos to come.) Here you go!

Hey guys! I'm sort of new here on TIGsource, and this thread is awesome. I've listened through the last pages here and wow, there's some amazing stuff here and it's so diverse in styles!
The past couple of weeks I've invested my time in creating a few short demo tracks in different genres to display what I'm about, so it would be cool to get some feedback on this music! For the orchestral ones, I've dug really deep into convolusion reverb and positioning instruments in a very realistic acoustic space. Here's the first results:
I also made this electronic music "reel" borrowing video material from unrelated games:
So I want to ask, is there any FMOD fanatics in here!? :D I've began to work with it now and it feels like I'm just scratching the surface. FMOD is gonna change the way I compose. I've also been meaning to make a Youtube video with some advanced and cool sounding adaptive music. I love it!

You guys are all sweet. Pengus are you on twitter? All of you, seriously, hit me up @zminus1 we should nerd sometime. Since my last post on here I've written quite a bit of new stuff. Today I thought after watching my bro stream the new DOOM on twitch I thought I'd give that kind of thing a shot... I got my distorted electric guitar shit going and then... I completely bailed on the guitars and made this... hahaha... https://soundcloud.com/zminusone/cyber-demons-crapOther stuff I've done in the last week & a half: Been writing some "electro/trance/house/whatever" for an upcoming game, here's a couple new ones I finished in the last few days. 100% NI Massive: https://soundcloud.com/zminusone/cpmTried to learn IL Harmor a little bit for this one. I got the synth a while back and then never really used it. If you check the spectrum it's obviously an additive synth since there's a super steep cutoff, you'll see This one is 100% Harmor: https://soundcloud.com/zminusone/geosAlso wrote some 80s synthwave style stuff, sorta - for another different game. I think these both are 100% Massive (for the nerds who care): https://soundcloud.com/zminusone/prince-4kI like this one in particular just because Bladerunner... but 12/8 https://soundcloud.com/zminusone/prince-4k-slashing-stabbing-synthingAlso just for funzies I've been trying to make some WoW-ish ambient type stuff: https://soundcloud.com/zminusone/ganking-lowbies-in-the-barrensKind of eerie-undead city type crap: https://soundcloud.com/zminusone/dying-over-9000-times-at-the-undercity-elevatorSorry, probably annoying... I do write a lot of music these days. Honestly, it's frustrating trying to get work doing this... so I just write and shed. But it'd be good to make some buds, so hit me up on twitter or w/e would love to shoot the shit with some of you guys. -Brian

Awesome music Brian, I checked out your Soundcloud. I'm not really on Twitter, I do have it though. @retropengus I could talk synthwave or 80's inspired music for hours dude. It's basically what my whole setup of plugins that I use for personal music is all about. I even got this Revox/Studer PR99MK3 reel to reel - studio tape recorder from the 80's, spent my car money on that haha.

I'm not really on twitter, but I have been the host of a couple of music producer chatrooms over the years on IRC, ended up as a lot of collabs. Here's one from those days.. When I also made videos for my music.. And just a headsup to all you musicians, I'm really a windows guy to the bone, but I have used opensource software on the side all along, like Audacity and various VSTs. I have recently installed the Linux Ubuntu Studio OS on a Sony VAIO laptop(~5 years old), which is made for creative people, featuring all you will need for audio production etc., for free. If you're pining for an althernative to Windows or OSX, then check it out.. Or just check it out if you're curious anyway.. https://ubuntustudio.org/

But, to be honest, before you're sold on it I'd highly suggest checking out KXSTudio which, from my personal experience, is much better. Of course, it's been awhile since I've used either.

Debian fucks up on my VAIO. And KX is basically Ubuntu Studio for Debian users. Besides, I'm a windows guy, so I'm certainly not "sold" on linux Impressive that all those half working programs are free tho.

@2mass Sweet music as usual! I'm also a windows guy! I've been writing a lot, but nothing that I can post just yet. However I did post a couple old electronic tunes This one is sort of an Electro thing: https://soundcloud.com/zminusone/masonThe next one is another old drum and bass track I've been fiddling with for a long, long time. If you've seen the movie Bladerunner you'll probably recognize the dialog sample. I always get frustrated trying to get this style of music sounding how I want it, but there are a lot of things I really like about this track in the end. https://soundcloud.com/zminusone/empathy-testLater dudez!

Nice electro, zminusone. Very forward drifting and lively. Nice. And you know what, I have made a track for a bladerunner/vangelis tribute album once, we weren't allowed to use samples from the movie tho, so I used police radio scatter. But I pulled the track on the finish line, long story.
I didn't always make instrumental music, here I'm featuring Chris Horne..
And from that same era, Kaer Trouz..
