lol....oh man ya, i dont know what to say. its like autechre goes to happyhardcoreland I agree with this description, but I don't feel it conveys the utter strangeness of the, uh, song. Or how it gets progressively more painful to listen to. I am glad I listened to it. The experience was unique.

Okay, I know diddly squat about making music so I'm looking for a little feedback on this right here. What I need to know is whether or not it's completely crappy, and if not then is it suitable for, say, a mysterious volcanic island rising out of the sea?

I made some music for an iPhone app called Beatmaker and you can check out the mp3 version here or play the source samples I created if you bought the app.

bumpin, 13!
deadeye, that sounds pretty good! the only thing i could think of was that the ending note was a bit too uplifting for what im assuming is supposed to be frightening event.

This is absolutely incredible. Love the snazzy time signature at the start and the progression and well, everything. <3 Deadeye, it's pretty cool, the instrument at the beginning could probably be louder or at least sustained better, it faded away too quickly. I don't think the last note is too uplifting, I felt it progressed nicely, but if it were for a game, it would not be loopable because it resolves itself. I have made something (a lot) "nicer" than my last piece, it is just a boring dance mix of the mini game theme in ocarina of time. It is more just practise in mixing than anything overly interesting, but I am very happy with the mixing (finally worked out the Multiband Compressor!). Listen here

Thanks for taking a listen The effect I was going for was more of a suspensful/exciting feeling rather than something frightening. I hope that it works in that regard. Oh, and yeah it's for my compo entry, but it's just for a one-time event so there's no need to loop it. As for that first instrument, I can tweak the volume and the sustain on it so that it carries itself a little more.

Just spent an hour checking out all the music on this thread. Good stuff. Makes me curious what programs people use for their tunes. I finally sat down and tried my hand at making a tune with Musagi. It's a rather slick little program once you get to know it. Especially for being freeware. Anyways, thought i'd share the results. It's really short, and I feel like this song could keep going, but i don't know where to take it. Maybe back to the intro bit?

A piece I did for Melly's game-in-progress, Under the Black Root. It ended up a little more melodic than I'd intended, but it's still a lot more ambient than anything I've done before. Hope Melly doesn't mind me posting it here. Just spent an hour checking out all the music on this thread. Good stuff. Makes me curious what programs people use for their tunes. Pretty much everything I do is in FL Studio 8. I keep meaning to learn Ableton Live, though. Good work on the track, by the way, especially for your first effort with the program. I tried Musagi at the weekend, but I couldn't really get on with it.
