Sprout’s Tale is a 2.5 D game set in a dying world. As the protagonist, you are tasked with battling back the end of times with a pouch of seeds and a mysterious friend. Grow trees, vines, grass, and flowers to solve puzzles, kill enemies, and restore the world. Sprout, the central character of the story, is awoken from non-existence when the world is on the brink of collapse. Darkness has breached almost every corner of the land and water, and it seems that only he and a winged companion have the power to stop it. Find and plant seeds to create bridges, stairs, ladders, and traps. Using the right seed at the right time and place will be entirely up to the player, and saving seeds to utilize other tools in the environment will also be entirely within your power. While not strong alone, Sprout can use the fairy to help him carry and push heavy objects. The fairy itself will be entirely in the control of here: To be developed for PC, Linux, Xbox, PS, Android, and everything else we can afford.

Game's looking slick. The plot is very interesting, like a cult-classic PS2 game (that's a good thing, to me).

The sprouting mechanic looks nice in motion, but the main character moves way too slow for my taste (I'd expect him to move like that in an underwater level). Keep up the good work!

Thanks guys! Here's a pretty awkward video that explains the gameplay a bit more I think you're right about his speed, but I'm worried that speeding him up is going to change the tone and mood of the game. I don't know, I'll toy with the speed settings and upload another video and hopefully get some feedback there. Thanks again for commenting

That is a very nice quadped animation. Obviously it is WIP, but still the line of the back being completely static really strikes me.
Also - the general premise is really interesting. I saw your shot on the #ScreenShotSaturday and it immediately sparked my interest.

Thank you for the kind words!
About the line on the back- You means strikes you in the good kind of way or the bad?

Thanks guys!
Finally got a gameplay video up. We've made some changes since this, but here it is all the same. Got the stick sides to go away and have cleaned up the motion itself.

Further along in development. Trying to find a way to broaden the available color palette and make the environments slightly more interesting. Part of the challenge is that in a future where no organic material has survived, you quickly get very restricted in what you can use to decorate a mountain landscape. Anyway here's the direction things are headed:

This game is making leaps and bounds. The lighting is great. It has a light happy feel. Reminds me of mario64 remake on DS. I really like the fluidity of the camera how it lowers itself sometimes. Very cool. The tree growing is great. It really looks like something is growing rather than just moving upwards. How did you guys pull that off? Is it an animation that expands the model?

Wow thanks a lot for the nice responses, guys! As for looking happy and all that, it's nice to know our efforts are paying off. We're trying to go with something that is immediately accessible with very subtle hints of menace. It's a tricky goal, but we've got some good ideas. As for how the tree animation got to be so awesome, you can thank our artist Murilo for that. Guy's got talent out the wazoo.

First, it is intentional that the enemy being killed by rain is confusing with the background? Usually enemies looking like that background is bad idea. Second, why rain kills it? Also, I liked the art in general, and the premise. And... WHY NAVI??? WHYY? WHYYYYY?
