I hear "short" and I think one hour or less, no saves/continues. Dunno about anyone else.

yeah, that is also my definition of short. games that are meant to be played in one sitting with around an hour or less of play-time.

some of my favorites would be:
Gravity Bone, Norrland, Balloon Diaspora, MirrorMoon, Space Funeral, Streemerz, 78641, Mayhem Triple

Do roguelikes even count?

Depends on whether the "completion" or the "satisfying short sessions" are the primary criteria, I'd say.

Considering you don't really "complete" a roguelike, usually.

Considering the fact that I'm still hacking away at the Nintendo DS version of "Shiren The Wonderer" after 60 hours, I'd say no. Then again, Japanese roguelikes are slightly different animals than traditional roguelikes.

Maybe if we just confined it to coffee break roguelikes ("Pixel Dungeon," "DoomRL," "Lost Labyrinth," etc.)

Gotta go with Journey.

Although I do sit down and play through Cave Story every once in a while.

Okay, what's your favorite short game?

And by short I mean 8 hours to completion or less.

go.

I'd say "To the Moon". Short game, but really good.
Some people don't give it a chance because of the fact it was made with RPGMaker.
What a shame. It's a really good game. Won a few awards.

Spelunky.
The Binding of Issac.
VVVVVV.
Momodora I & II.
Probability Zero.
I Wanna Be The Guy.
You Have To Win The Game (To Be The Guy Who Won The Game)
Totally Tiny Arcade
FTL: Fuck These Losers
Brogue
MegaMari
Jables's Adventure
FastCrawl
TowerClimb

I just finished playing BasketBelle and really enjoyed it.  It's probably only 1-2 hours but I highly recommend it.

Great replay value, I wish I didn't have to reload the page after every game.

Hotline Miami. I recommend this game to all.

I spent 7 hours on it. That I think is borderline.

Hotline Miami. I recommend this game to all.

Also spent something like 7 hours. More if you want the achievements or all weapons unlocked.

Great game however.

'Every day the same dream' really captivated me and is probably my favorite super-short game.
