Do you have one? Post it here. Bosses are fine too. I am collecting the results for the purposes of science / an arena platformer project I'm currently working on.
In terms of enemies, I personally find it extraordinarily difficult to pick a single one, or even one I could consider among my favorites. For me, bosses are much easier to pick favorites with... I suppose I'll choose Undead Core from Cave Story, though if I really thought about it I might come up with something better.

I don't know if he really counts as an enemy as such, but my favourite video game bad guy is in no doubt: Kefka from FFVI. He was great. He had such an awesome personality, that I haven't seen matched in any game since. I'll always remember seeing him doing all the evil things, but still admiring him for being wickedly funny.

these guys were the ONLY enemies you'd fight in the game, and each fight was a huge boss battle.

Favorite in terms of Gameplay and/or Graphics? The ReaverBots from Megaman Legends are a favourite of mine. It's a pity they were stripped of their enigma by being explained.

I think the Cacodemon from Doom is my favourite. I always enjoyed fighting them and made sure that my homemade maps where filled with them!

My favorite is the Tektite from the first Zelda game. I'm not sure why, but it's always been my favorite.

There are (almost literally) tons I could mention (I am a fan of villains on almost any media), but one fucker from the Parodius games really deserves to be mentioned, this guy: His theme song is Mozart's Turkish March, everytime you hit him he spouts some moonspeak stuff I can't barely understand, but best of all, he shoots at you power ups items (with the occassional bullet between the power up array) at you. And look at him, he is like some big jelly pillow with a big fat gold coin inside!

cant find a screenshot anywhere but these white circles that fly at you in Rez'z 2nd boos stage. you know, the great big white things with a SINGLE orange button in the middle, and every time you hit the button, the circle breaks up in smaller parts, and it makes a snare-y sound?
i just loooove those things.

I wondered how long it'd be before that came up... Really? Favorite? More like, enemy that has made me cry the most. I always thought the Sharks from Earthbound were the coolest. I wanted to be in their gang, because their hideout was the arcade!

Rez Also, these: Especially the first time you encounter them. It's just perfect timing with the music and everything.

I don't think enemies get any scarier than the Sentient Hyper-Optimized Data Access Network.

I hate, hate, hate those black headcrabs. The normal ones are just irritating, but the black ones are some other dimension of sinister.

What's even worse is when one of the hunchbacked zombies that carry the fuckers sneaks up on you in the dark.
All you hear is this rattling sound with a whoosh as the headcrab flies past, and you have to quickly decide which one to glock first.
