OK, so I've had this weird problem lately while playing some indie games: the games act like some of my arrow keys are being pressed when they're not.

I've had it happen with a couple GM games (eg. the recent Metroid: Confrontation demo, and the 2D GoldenEye demake) and an MMF game (Minishooter RS Delta).

If anyone has any idea what could be causing this I'd really appreciate it; thanks!

Do you happen to know what engine the games were made with?

I have an old USB controller and sometimes the crosspad gets stuck, which causes a similar problem for me.

Does it only happen in those games? It seems unlikely that the problem is specific to those games, and more likely that the keyboard is the cause.

Chances are that this is the problem, but I could easily be wrong. Or maybe just goo underneath the keys...

Yeah, it only happens in certain games, that's what's so weird about it.  Cactus' games are find for instance.

It doesn't seem to be Rollover either, as it seems to just happen when the game is turned on (eg. character immediately walks to the left with gun pointed up).

Hmm, see if this fixes it:

Ugh, that doesn't seem to fix it, though I still think the problem has to do with that.  How exactly do you turn off all disability setting?  I've messed around with some of them, but I'm not sure about a total turn off.

I had this issue too.

After reinstalling windows, it was fixed. Now, to find a cause!

(you can thank me for the easy cure at any time!)

I've had that problem, we had to replace the keyboard - not easy with a laptop. However, if you're just using a desktop computer you could try switching yours out with a cheap one just to see if it helps.

I'm using a laptop, so yeah, not easy.  I've got a usb keyboard though for when I hook my laptop up to my bigger setup (24" monitor and stereo) so do you think I could plug that one in and temporarily disable my laptop's own keyboard?
