OK, Kotaku linked to this total WTF article about World of Goo. http://roguelikedeveloper.blogspot.com/2008/10/review-world-of-goo.htmlHere's the line about TIGS, you'll need to actually read the article to make any sense of it though: But it was the little guys who were causing the real problems: penetration attacks from TIGSource were getting more common every day

I thought it was pretty funny actually, in a really WTF kind of way. Also, from what I can tell in the comments there's a bunch of tie ins that make sense if you've played World of Goo, which I have yet to play, so, yeah.

I think he's trying to write a cyberpunk short story and this must be an hommage, he's implying that Tigsource has become a sort of megacorporation or sthg. Yeah TIGS is becoming rather notorious among game related websites.

Um no, you've got it completely backwards. Here's what he said in the comments below the article: Despite what I wrote, this isn't a specific dig at EA or the game industry. It was more a 'isn't it a great opportunity to be an independent developer, because the tools are now out there to not have to worry about the low level stuff anymore'.

The subject of the story is the CEO of Electronic Arts. He's in trouble because he doesn't know how to produce the next big hit that will make his company survive in the console/gaming industry wars. The narrator references TIGSource as "one of the little guys" who were causing big companies like his real problems. This piece is obviously meant as a kind of cyberpunk parody of the competitive makeup of the gaming industry, and clearly isn't intended to portray TIGS in a negative light. In short, relax.

You're only meant to tell people to relax when they aren't already relaxed about something, Craig.

I took the proliferation of screaming (tripping?) emoticons as a sign of distress.

Oh, haha. Forgot about them.
I thought they were just about the weirdness of the thing as a whole. Perhaps I was foolishly mistaken.
