30 Strange visit to a place at night—moonlight—castle of great magnificence etc. Daylight shews either abandonment or unrecognisable ruins—perhaps of vast antiquity.
51 Enchanted garden where moon casts shadow of object or ghost invisible to the human eye.
189 Ancient necropolis—bronze door in hillside which opens as the moonlight strikes it—focussed by ancient lens in pylon opposite?A horror-roguelike set in a moon-litten world.
Allthough full ascii, I challenge myself to create some atmosphere in graphics.
I hope that looks somewhat moon-litten.
I have no idea where this is leading too though,
I hope to include some things like:
-self closing doors,
-distant wandering lights,
-mirrors,
-living gargoyles,
-invisible creatures show only shadow
-falling stars (white .'s) will pass playingfield,
if in line of sight you collect a wish.
Wishes can be used to get out of trouble.
Kornel Kisielewicz (DoomRL) wrote an article in which he describes what eventually a lovecraftian roguelike would play like:
http://library.simugraph.com/articles/horror.htmlI'll definately take some advice from that, allthough I'm not that great writer in English.
I make the game in flash. That doesn't give me great performance for things like 'field of view', but I hope it will do ok.
Any suggestions on the game are more than welcome!
PS. This is my second post here, the first one was to announce
an entry for the procedural-comp, I hope I'll be around a little longer this time.
