I love the Noitu Love one! The Aquaria one, I'm not so sure about. There are some bits where it sounds great, and some bits where it sounds too brash, or too... techno. I would expect a song from Aquaria to be cooler and more organic.

I know that as a fighting game, IB needs its songs to be more 'action-oriented', but I don't think they all have to be quite so strong. If you listen to the music in fighting games, especially Super Smash Bros, you will find some softer tunes as well.

I was under the same feeling myself - I think something more symphonic in style would be better. On that note, however, I am not looking to recreate SSB style exactly. (:

In fact, I almost feel like this Aquaria track would be better as a credits or something (since that will certainly be a long list)

Very nice. I love the Noitu Love tune. I agree with the above posters on the fact that the Aquaria theme seems a little too techno sounding. Other then that everything is sounding great.

Gosh darn Sir, nicely tuned. Especially love the BONESAW theme - best of the bunch. Very, very nice. Aquaria sounds a tad Metal Gear Solid*, but is also nice. Noitu is rather faithful. I think we need these in the next build, quick smart.

Now give someone else a go**, you brilliant guy.

As I told you, I love you for the Noitu song Twi!

But as someone mentioned MGS, the background music in the song is a lot like the Gekko theme from MGS4!

Not that that's bad in any way. I love that score.

What musical style you've been planning for the game?

Is it required to be a remix of a classic?

It has to be all remix, yes.

What Yama said, with the possible exception of the main theme.

Note that the remixed music for a stage doesn't necessarily have to come from the same game. Some games might make excellent stages, but lack good music, so in these cases, it's fine to take the music from another similar game.

In all cases, you need permission from the original composer. This is sometimes the same person that designed the game, but not always.

Be careful, sometimes you need both, and sometimes you need just the permission of game designer, not original composer (depends who owns the copyright). In most cases, for indie games, this is the composer.

I compressed the Noitu love theme to an 87kbps 44100 .ogg
It weights about 1.52 mb but its sounds still really sweet.  Kiss

I'm wondering if anyone has heard this remix? Sounds like it might be suited to the game and could be worth looking into.

Yes, I think most of us have heard it before, I know Robotaki somewhat. If you read in the Stage Design thread, it actually inspired a personal stage idea. A bit too slow for stage music, but I could ask him to cut/edit it.

I sent him a message. We'll see what happens.  Smiley

I don't know how to get in contact with Chris Geehan, the original composer, though.

Is that the guy who made the original theme? I think we should as Dan Remar about that.

I think it works perfectly, just the intro might be a tad bit too long.

Otherwise, this would be perfect stage music. Wizard
