just listening through the iji level clear... it's incredible how much you managed to fit into a 26 second piece of music I'll have to shorten it down to 5-10 seconds though

Wait, a vitory theme for each level? Why not for each character, instead?

This is also possible. However, would it not be more fun to mix it up? I mean if you're uber-1337 at indie brawlz you'll hear the same victory theme over and over, the level victory gives way to a personalisation of each level on an audio level and changes the victory themes up each time!

I was under the impression it WAS for the characters.
Yeah, that was what I meant, too.

Personally, I prefer the idea of custom music per character over per stage, since we're praising the winner of the fight, not the stage...

I think both are good ideas, I just prefer the level themed victory since the amount of characters to levels will be like.. how many more? A good few I would imagine!

Victory songs tend to be pretty short in comparison, but I can see the reasoning.

Yeah that's what I meant, I mean if you think about it, it's gotta be quality over quantity, and although it'd be great to have a tune for each character, the quality of composition when laid out so thin can really strain your arranging side, as a musician.
Everybody I know, who is working on the team knows what this is like and wants to deliver quality at every turn, but there is only so much you can do with some characters musical background, and when it's hard enough to generate a piece of music for the stage of the character in the first place, coming from an ambient/weakly composed game OST, it is probably best to focus on the stages and their corresponding stage musics.
(also JMickle I want to say sorry for not including you when listing the great musicians on the Indie Brawl team, and your recent iji victory jingle arrangement just has proven that you got the skills to pay das bill ja bitte. I'm irish, not german.)

Also if that's the case, then we don't need a generic victory theme to be used with characters that lack the appropriate music.
The same would happen to stage musics. For example, if I remember correctly, we have stages planned for Mondo Medicals and Knytt.

16 confirmed characters and 17 confirmed stages so far. Maybe you guys should start with the games that have both a character and a stage, just in case. Like Iji, Bonesaw, Noitu Love and Aquaria.

That's a good enough reason to use stage victory music.

naw, it's cool, thanks for the compliments Seems like a compelling argument for Characters. But yeah, sticking to the games with both is smart.
