That's what I like about the 1 week limitation, it would naturally cut down on entries, and I do believe that a high quality entry could easily be created in a week (at least in GM or, I'm assuming, MMF). Please let me know if it really would be that hard to do a 1 week game from scratch, because if so then I'll stop saying that 1 week is a good idea.
It's not so much that it's hard to do a 1 week game from scratch - it would be, but most people working in real languages have a decent amount of code they could work from so that's not so much of an issue. But sometimes people have other demands on their time - jobs, study, families. One week might be fine for school kids. I could certainly write a game from scratch in a week, but I wouldn't bother. I'd rather spend my free time on something I can take my time about and do properly. Give me a few weeks though, and I'll deliver something beautiful. I don't think there'd be any need for rules to limit the number of entries. Just make the flavour text for the compo discuss how a 2-minute game can be a highly-polished tight experience, how a lot can be packed into 2 minutes if you try, and so on, and people will get the idea. Plus there's no rule saying you have to play them all. The best will naturally rise to the top; just wait and see what's getting attention.

There have been other good ideas besides these.

Do you think that it might be good to vote again or something?

Not even sure these voting things work all that well. But if someone wants to go at it.

I think this should wait until the time to do the next compo is sooner, because it is likely that there will be more good ideas before then, and we'd have to redo the poll 5 times.

There are popular options that came up after the polls started, so there is something to vote over. Also the methodology of the poll was poor.

How care aout the methodology? Or memes?
But seriously, it was poor in the first voting, but since it was only to choose a set of clear favorites, it doesn't matter all that much. This thread's voting went alright.

By poor methodology I just meant that I didn't like showing the current vote totals as the voting is ongoing; it tends to cause people to pick their favorite of the current top 3 or so, instead of picking their favorite overall. The main issue is the popular ideas that were introduced after the polling, though.

I doubt the poll will do much anyhow, and Derek will pick what will be the next based mostilonoly on opinion, which is how it should be .

I cannot agree, for you have not accepted my honorable challenge. Therefore all you say is foolishness.

Aww, I wanted to do an IF remake of SMB. Very Short Games will fit better with my schedule, though. I wasn't intending to enter the next compo, but I think I could afford to make a very (very very) short game.
