I talked a little bit about the progress of Dinosword in a little netcast I've been doing with Jay Tholen, Alix Stolzer and Calvin Groble called Feature Creep. It can be found here.

After a lot of thought/contemplation, I decided that Dinosword needed to be 3D. So, I am recoding the game and making all the sprites into 3D models.

We also plan on an Oculus Rift version. I really want to capture the subtle nuances of what it's truly like to be a dinosaur. Stay tuned.

If this were an April Fools joke then why would I currently be doing motion capture in a giant dinosaur costume?

Because you get to do motion capture in a giant dinosaur costume?

Hahaha!  Maybe you could add an eating small dinosaurs function to the Oculus Rift version?  Could be a mini game where you have to chase them around and eat them? Hand Fork Left Hand Knife Right

Love all of the updates on Dinosword!!

I know it's a long time coming, but I'm still plugging away at this game. I have been working slowly on my own with whatever time I have between work/normal life obligations. I also decided to take on everything myself. Things are coming along well and I'm learning.

Probably going to start a new devlog for this as I haven't really kept up with this one.

The Forests

Worked on the forest area a bit. Got the parallax backgrounds to work.

The Plunger and The Umbrella

Added 2 items. The Plunger lets you stick underneath things. The Umbrella lets you float. I'm considering making the Umbrella randomly flip inside out if you have it open for too long. For some reason it makes me happy to have items that are kinda crummy/unreliable.

The Caves

Took awhile to get something I liked working for masking hidden areas in the game. Need to keep the shader from changing the colors in the HUD, but it's starting to work overall.

Tuth Sabaur

Made some progress on one of the bosses. I put a post up over at pixelation.org asking for some critique if you want to see several attempts on his walk cycle.

Looking to be a lot more active here in the next couple weeks. Smiley

Looks cool! Art style gives me some Commander Keen vibes; childhood flashback.

One small critique -- in the Boss' idle animation, (and to a lesser degree his walk) it doesn't feel like his knees are bending even though there's a decent amount of up/down bounce in the loop. Probably doesn't need much of an adjustment and maybe you're going for a level of stiffness intentionally (First time I've seen the project so take it with a grain of salt) but it was my initial impression.
