Lucas, will there be a story mode or scenarios? I think this is something missing from a lot of recent sandbox games at the moment.

I don't think Painters Guild is a sandbox game. It's an empty-canvas-game

No, sorry. I've thought about this. The thing is that when I play sandbox games with scenarios (Civilization, Rome: Total War, Tropico and whatever) I ignore the scenarios and only play the sandbox mode. My focus is on creating a good sandbox experience rather than a railroaded one. Granted, I think scenarios within the game could work great, like the Leonardo da Vinci story in the alpha. But it's just not what I want to create and play right now. Maybe later.

I don't know. I tried giving an estimate before and I got it wrong, so I'll abstain for now. Oh no, it's Caravaggio! RUN! Really want to do some image bios of the artists to promote the game and the knowledge about these artists.

Nec Spe, Nec Metu. Hey, I didn't know that. Thanks for letting me know. "Nec Spe, Nec Metu" was Caravaggio's motto: "Without hope, without fear". I'll include that in his bio. This is Raphael Sanzio! There's only Michelangelo left, then I'll work on the bios and including them in the game.

Wow, thank you so much. I've seen others have voted for it as well, this means a lot to me I've been following your game on IndieDB, now I am here I really dig this game, great concept and awesome art. Good luck and congrats on getting greenlit. Thanks! Yeah, I haven't updated IndieDB at all recently. In fact, I haven't updated here either. But now I'll hopefully get back on track! This is Michelangelo. Should be the last Great Painter that was left to do. Next up is some implementation of Great Painters and their bios.

I've added the new artist parts to the editor: The editor needs some tweaks: -Beard support. -Women. -A division between changeable (hair, hat, clothes) and unchangeable (eyes, hair color) characteristics. There's also an annoying thing with the Great Painters UI element that I need to figure out how to fix.

Girls are in! Beards are still not. And gotta figure out how to UI design this editor thing, it's a mess right now.

Great Painters are working okay, still some stuff left to do but I think I wanna work on something else for a bit. Here's a 3-year old Leonardo (because I haven't set correct dates of birth yet) painting frescoes with Botticelli.

Mockup for guild customization. In the left, you select which part of the guild to customize (roof, wallpaper, walls or floor) and in the right you browse the options (mouse-over to preview in your guild, click to buy). Each room of the guild will be customizable individually. I'm thinking of adding a button like "Apply this look to all rooms" so you don't have to customize each one if you want them all to look the same.

Artist customization is finished. There's about 40 hair types (20 male, 20 female) and the same for clothes and hats, plus 15 eye types. Then there's 4 hair colors and 3 beards. That goes up to over 1 million possible artist looks (I think?).
