Holy vanias! That's more Metroidvanias than I can play in a lifetime! Too bad most of those are probably never going to be released :s

That's the problem with the genre, everyone and their grandma want to make a Metroidvania as a first indie project. Too hard. Even I did that Tongue

I definitely don't think there is a saturation in completed metroidvanias but obviously there is an abundance of indie devs who want to make them, thus giving the appearance that the market is flooded. Like other devs, I started out wanting to make one because it seemed doable (I laugh at that now) and it wasn't "just a platformer" so it seemed more interesting. These days I try to work on much smaller (and yet unfinished) projects that are more easily scopable (is that a word?) by one person. I think the genre's deceptively low barrier to development is what drives a lot of indies to try it.

Too many Metroidvanias?  I'd say there's not enough.  Maybe I'm not looking in the right places but I'm having trouble finding any good new ones.
