Wanted to share my weird project of the month - a tech demo of some new 2D normal mapped lighting stuff, animation stuff, particle systems stuff, and editor stuff that I developed over the last 3-4 weeks. In the form of a bunch of ants that you can do nice and/or mean things to using various tools.

My SubMiner prototype last month didn't get much feedback, partly because I didn't promote it much, but partly (I think) because the graphics sucked - I deliberately spent all the time on gameplay and as little on graphics as possible. So - wanted to spread my time across the game dev disciplines a little more evenly this go-around, see if better production values would create some appeal.

Interested in any feedback - does it run OK? Good framerate, etc., and no visual glitches? Curious how it runs on different hardware. Is the visual style appealing?

An interesting little sandbox. Ran well even with lots of ants and seeds on the screen. Are you planning on doing anything else with it?

Cool, glad it ran well - didn't have any future plans for it, was just going to be a one-off to test the lighting/particle/animation stuff. Keeping a fire going for as long as possible (feed one side while the other side burns) is kinda fun - but don't know if that would be enough to make an interesting game.
