Working on the Victory Screen.

There have been many subtle animations added (shoveled dirt piles, shrinking ditches, worm crawls in and out of dirt, You Lose Screen, Level Select Screen).

Played the demo, here are some critiques

The game has moments of no player on screen. When you run to the border of the screen and go off screen there is a few second pause before warping to the other side of the screen, the player isn't literally gone, as you know you are still controlling him off screen but it feels a little strange and I found it causing me to get lost off screen a bit. The screen warps should be instant so that if you stand with half your character sprite off screen the other half can be seen warped on the other side.

The press enter to restart screen will disappear immediately if you are still holding down the shovel button. ( I'm assuming this will be fixed with that awesome you loose screen.)

I'm a little confused on how you beat the levels, is there going to be a par of worms you must collect?

Thanks for the detailed critique!

To address the moments where Mr. Crow can't be seen. That is something that I noticed but haven't fixed yet. I'm sure that'll be changed soon enough.

Me and Sam hope to have a newer updated version of the game soon. The press enter to restart screen has been changed to the You Lose Screen and that problem was addressed.

The goal in every level is that Mr. Crow has to collect up to a certain number of worms to in the given time limit to continue. I'll need to make an opening screen before each level that tells the player how many worms they need to collect.

It's really helpful to receive good critique. I have had my mind on creating art and I've been playing the levels just to see how things are working visually. I think I can get so caught up in making art that the game mechanics that needed some fine tuning get forgotten.

Thanks for your help!

Completed Level art.

Me and Sam have been working at this game for awhile and it's going really smoothly. There is still quite a bit of polish to be worked on, but hopefully we will have another updated playable demo soon!

Combo effect in the game. I'm still working pretty hard on this game, unfortunately, Sam hasn't been able to work on it as much. I've been taking the time to learn how to program more effectively. Must. Keep. Working.

@moi

Thank you!

This looks awesome, I like the style.

Only gripe with your most recent post is the worm combo thingy is very large and especially distracting as it moves around. It looks a lot more 'epic' than just collecting 2 worms for example.

Testing out Cars in the City Level.

@Iso

Thanks for your comments! I can understand where you're coming from on the combo counter being big. Catching two worms might not be the most the most epic thing ever, but the counter goes up to 10! I feel it fits in there pretty nicely when playing it. It's a bit over the top, but hopefully not enough to put anyone off. Hopefully once I get the newest version up to test, you'll change your mind. Smiley

New Demo!

This project started out being a tiny little experiment and stretched out way further than expected. Sam unfortunately got bogged down with work, so I continued on my own and learned a lot. In the process of making the game, I was offered a possible sponsorship that eventually dissolved. All things considered, I think the game is coming together pretty well. I have a working version for Windows, Android and HTML5. The game is programmed in GameMaker.

I hope you like it.
