Hey guys, so i have been practicing pixel art for a while but i am having trouble improving. That's why i need your help. Here are two guys i did a few days ago-

and here is what happened when i tried to animate my icon-

The yellow was to sudden in the first one, but the red one looks duller, which one looks better or how could i improve?
Thanks.

Hi Crypit
I think I like the dark blue better. The middle frame doesn't pop out as much. Because of the black background I tweaked your blue tone to something lighter a little to see if it improved anything. I don't know, what do you think?

the first animated logo looks the best in my opinion, because the yellow  is more visible and the AA makes the image smoother (particularly the edges when we see it side on). I also just like the colour scheme, reminds me of old kung fu films

the perspective of both is a bit off i think, youve just squashed the image for the turning frames  and added the 3rd dimension, right? as it rotates perspective would take effect on the shape making it asymmetrical. and the hole in the middle shouldnt jump up like that that, probably another symptom of resizing. i like the symbol!

Oh yeah, I didn't realise it looked like that. I did just squash the image and add the third dimension which, as it turns out, is the wrong thing to do. Thanks for your help, I will make the edit when I get the time.

Here is the new gear animation with perspective-

I like how it turned out, but I'm not sure if it is better than the old one.
Any help, critique and opinions are appreciated
Thank you! Smiley

it is. from what i can see, with the amount of perspective you put on it when turning, it makes it looks like a much wider object than it actually is (when we see it flat and face-on). so it looks a little off.

plus the frame where it is side-on, the symbol would be at its tallest but it shrinks a little.

rotating stuff realistically can be a nightmare, I pixelled a rotating ship once and i actually rotoscoped a spinning 3d model made in maya just to make sure it looked spot on.

Thanks for the help guys, you are too kind.
I like to design logos, but I am really bad at it. I've made two here but I cant tell which colours look the best, or when the text becomes obnoxiously hard to read.

The bottom ones says Erra-Former.
As always, please help me not suck. Tongue

theres not much to critique really, except readability of the letters. The middle icon at the top has legible text whilst being more stylised than the one on the left, and i prefer the AA on the blue and green logos.

the erraformer logos, colour wise i dont have a favourite really, thats up to you. but the text is a bit unclear. you could stick with it like a death metal band, but changes id make is not to connect every letter at multiple points (try just one) and make the M wider.

The Erra-Former wordmarks were illegible to me before you said what they were, as was the rightmost Crypit logo.  If you're going to go with the white logo, the middle one is better than the bottom right.

Thanks for all your great advice. I will keep it all in mind next time I try to write anything else. Tongue
I am still practicing drawing 'people' so here are two new ones I've done:

By the way, drawing hands is hard.

I'm digging the new guy on the right. Why not try some AA on your pieces?

Thanks, I have been trying a new style and I obviously haven't got the hang of it yet. I would appreciate any help on how to make these sprites better. Thanks!

[EDIT]
Here is a new character I threw together a few minutes ago. I don't think he feels quite right. Any crits?

Walking animations are always fun.  Lips Sealed

Idle animations are easy.

After looking around on the internet for a while I discovered my logo looks remarkably similar to Halo's 'Seventh Column' . Lips Sealed

Now, on my quest for individuality I will try to create a new one.
Here is my first attempt -

Help me please.  Beg
