This looks really nice. All those little effects, lighting, the attention to detail is really noticeable man, good job! I think the speed of the player movement is really spot on too, it all just feels right! /drool

This looks great! I love the fluidity of the animation and lighting effects of the gun blasts.
Oh and hovering while shooting in mid-air is neat too!

Our music guy has been working on the first music for our game, check it out on SoundCloud here: Overworld MusicI'm extremely happy with it, it evokes just the kind of atmosphere I wanted for the outdoor areas.

The game has switches to turn lights on and off or lock/unlock doors now. I also did a bunch of work on the sound today. There's music in now and it gets quiet and muffled when you go inside, or fades out completely if you go to some areas. I also implemented the audio reverb effects that you can use in Unity, some raycasts check to see how much metal you have around you and then turn up the reverb appropriately so you get some nice metallic reverb when you are inside.
I uploaded a video to youtube to showcase the new sound work.

We are thinking of changing the name of the game. Blastronauts sounds very arcadey and does not suit the direction the game is taking. We're very keen on calling the game Darien, after the Darien distaster when Scotland attempted to colonise America, because of the similarities between our storyline and the Darien project.
Any thoughts?

Wouldn't it be better to name it The Something_Else_Within_Your_Universe Scheme if you want that correlation?

yeah its quite a good sci fi sounding name but if theres nothing in the game called darien, its a bit strange to have it named after a real life colonial blunder

We're still working on a name, it's possible the world may be called Planet Darien. Been working on another monster

Hey, this looks fantastic. Beautiful art. I quite like either "Darien" or "Planet Darien", although I'd go with the former. Just name something in the game after it. "Blastronauts" is definitely no good.

Really Cool! Love the Turrican influence! Those shooting particles are gorgeous! Are you going to add a secondary flamethrower attack ? I'm usually not a fan of light engines in Pixel Art style games, but here it fits really well. Keep up the good work!

Just echoing other people's sentiments, but this looks really good in motion: the animation is smooth and the bullets look really neat.

The game looks great! Thanks for sharing the details of how you're doing your lighting effects. I'm guessing the game isn't intended for mobile since the lighting is rendered to another camera on a render texture.
