Vestiged

Concept
2d Sidescrolling adventure with simple rpg elements such as questing where you salvage a wrecked town. A young kid entity is stranded in a devastated town, its townfolks live in worsening conditions due to many mysterious factors, some even have abandoned their households. Our players' goal is to restore the townfolks' hope by aiding them on tasks, unraveling the cause of the mysterious conditions and putting an end to the sickness which destroys the town.

Intended Features
Quests- Each NPC has a specific questline which to play and helps the town's condition progress.
Day/Night- Different hours of the day, different things to do, different dangers.
Weather- Protect against the natural elements, harmful weather such as acid rain and smog will be present and will increase in certain parts of the day.
Survival- Outside of town will feature a top down area in which to find ingredients and material for quests. It's a rough town but it's a rougher nature.
Small dungeons- Finish a questline and gain acess to the underground of the NPC's house, an easy going level with top down dungeon type puzzle gameplay.
Dynamic town- See the town develop as you progress through the story, infrastructure will enhance, townfolks and visitors appearing, busking robot musicians stopping by and different types of fun encounters.

Here's a very crude prototype of the reconstruction mechanic:

Arrow keys to walk, shift to jump, enter to interact and click on the little down triangle for passing dialogue, which is quite cheesy since this prototype doesn't concern look and feel yet.

IMPORTANT: the prototype ends once you finish the first "quest" for the ORANGE house, after that there isn't anything else TO DO, if you continue interacting after that point it will bug very nicely Smiley

Concepts and mockups:

Currently working:
Remaking the first prototype from scratch adding all the core mechanics, screenshots of it below!

SIDENOTE: the intended graphics WILL NOT resemble any type of sihloutte style!!! In need of help from a 2D artist!!!!

Working out a day/night cycle and weather system to the prototype. The acid rain will harm the player if it's present, the fog will harm the player late at night when it picks up.

Gif showing the day/night, weather and tent mechanics all together. Time goes faster once in the tent and you will remain inside until the weather clears.
