Can we not contact this Matthew person and request permission to edit the source of the forum? Everything about this forum smells of 2005 and a change of aesthetic could do it some good.

we were very lucky to get derek to rename and restructure some subforums a while ago.

unwillingness to pass on leadership + neglect is how online communities die too so it's kinda sad
*in some tweet he says he would if there was a good candidate, which after this much time is obv bs

The forum still works. On the rare occasion when stuff completely breaks, Matthew and/or Derek visit and fix it. We may not have YouTube embedding, but I kind of like the stability and consistency from the current hands-off approach. 2005 smells just fine. Not that I wouldn't appreciate more active admins, but I'm not a fan of the idea of changing things just for the sake of change.

The forum still works. On the rare occasion when stuff completely breaks, Matthew and/or Derek visit and fix it. Forum registration was completely broken for months while people here did all they could to alert the admins to no avail |

my main pet peev has always been matthew being so hands off about tigs, yet deciding that "Need hosting? Check out Digital Ocean" was an actual important thing to put on the header.
i understand that things arent trivial to implement, but i would appreciate some involvement with the community at least, so the digital ocean thing wouldnt feel like a sting

i mean if i'm not mistaken, matthew is paying for our hosting so it's understandable that he wouldn't want to give full privileges to some random person he doesn't know he can trust.
but yes it's a bit annoying that he seems to care so little.

no reason it can't be annually funded by community donations. that's how romhacking.net do it and I'm pretty sure they host more data and handle considerably more traffic
