tower defense is a noble genre created by indie modders of starcraft; match-3 was created by get-rich quick schemers at popcap

tho u're a representative of the group that makes quick cash-grabs tower defense flash games filled with ads and micro transactions
genre origins are of no meaning here
however if they are, then the match-3 genre origins were found in ancient board games from Rome and Greece, possibly developed by first ancient indies ever witnessed

a willful distortion of history; the point is that rejecting new people from joining a forum based on your assumptions about the types of games they make is stupid, what if we had cut off new members before you joined and you were unable to join? there's no reason not to welcome new people, we want the tigsource community to grow

with their iPhone releases? was a mental shortcut for guys that only register here to post their announcement and never come back, I don't intend to restrict anyone from registering here depending on what type of games they make

i think it'd be a good idea to have an informal rule that you can't post an announcement thread about your game in townhall until you've provided feedback for at least 3 other games on tigs

i've personally seen at least a hundred people ask about this. and for every one that asks there are probably several more who didn't go through the trouble of joining irc just to ask.
Please share the spreadsheet where you kept all their names.

I remember I had to try quite a few different names when I first made an account here. The questions were very vague to me, especially the pixel one.

[18:01] <dermal> is registration broken? i can't seem to create a forum account. [18:01] <dermal> What is a 3d pixel called? (all lowercase): , is a bad question. cube? square? box? [18:02] <GenericUser> it's not broken it's just bad questions [18:02] <Stimor> the topic gives the answers [18:03] |<-- sebbdk has left irc.esper.net (Quit: sebbdk) [18:03] <dermal> i see, thanks. frustrating to have to go that extra mile. just my feedback Half an hour ago. It happens all the time. (looks almost scripted for my argument, lol) Just saying, we might be excluding people unnecessarily this way. These are just the people who also think to/know how to connect to the IRC.

The answer is the first hit for "3d pixel". I'll make the hint a little easier, I guess.

yeah derek didn't take into account that google actually personalizes search results; his results for the same searches aren't the same as other people's results for those same searches, it takes into account knowledge of individual user data. my first result is:

a lot of users don't speak english as their first language and may not understand what "volumetric" even means, adding another thing that they'd have to look up

if you search "volumetric pixel" you will get voxel no matter who you are. because that is what voxel is. if someone knows how to register for a forum they will know that they can google something to find out what it is.

Yeah, that's weird. I knew they personalized search results, I just didn't see any reason why "3d pixel" would be personalized.
