Just wanted to put up the very same thread. Although I'm not sure which version of smf the forum uses, I know there are extensions that allow for YT/dailymotion/vimeo embed and AFAIK newer versions of smf come with this functionality installed.

Nice. Though I'd prefer less automagical solution, e.g. [youtube]url[/youtube] bbcode tag, where url would be link to the video.
