For example past the room with the music sheet they appear out of nowhere, then a little bit ahead you have a "cut scene" showing more enemies, at which point I retreated to get some distance, but the foggy area made it so I couldn't even see the enemies so I just shot blindly at their direction (and kept dying, those big blasts sure travel fast).
Yes, this area.. We just made it like that. You need to go to the nearest door, hide there and shoot the enemies. It is shown here, in the game walkthrough:

Plus, it made it so I died right after the first door opened since I didn't know what to expect of the gameplay. The areas are also too flat so far. But maybe this is all the intro parts and later you have a different pace and design, I don't know yet!
If you don't like the cut scenes, you can skip it by pressing the "Q" button.
And yes, areas are getting much more different later, you can see it in the game walkthrough
I like that it's Doom-esque mind, but Doom didn't interrupt gameplay, or require a "use" key to pick up things, I think that doesn't fit the pace. Also, having all the weapons laid out at the start is weird too!
Thank you, we were inspired by old school games, like Doom etc, but actually we did not want to make a game with same mechanics, but with some elements
All weapons are only at the first level, it's a kind of trick to give player a chance to try all of them, cause the game is very hard and not so many players can complete it and try all weapons that game has. After the first level player has only two or three weapons, which he finds by himself on different levels of the game.
I was surprised to see the game have Steam achievements, even though it is not in my Steam list. Weird!
Oh, yes, UDK supports Steam, but we didn't post our game there.. yet.
PS: I hope it doesn't turn out Ched is a mass murderer killing innocents in his drunk spell!
